Because I've made a decision to regrow my hair, I keep going down the YouTube hair videos rabbit hole. I found this one (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7fGbyTOCTI&list=WL&index=17) tonight and am fascinated by her cleansing technique and the beauty of her hair.

(Hint: Keep your eyes open for her almost 100-year-old long-haired grandmom!)

I have 1a hair that has thinned terribly (I've lost at least half of my hair thickness) due to medication and menopause. So her technique would never work for me. But maybe it will help someone with hair that's closer to her type.

This was such an enjoyable vid, so nice to have someone talking about "natural" haircare without getting ultra spiritual/hippy dippy with it. She has lovely hair.
I definitely feel you in that I could not do this method of hair care with my straight, fine hair. The grease I get after a couple of days is already untenable!

Watching now. First reaction - a picture, especially an old picture, can't capture the true condition of the hair. Mine has looked good in photos at times when I knew it was covered in split ends. However, I might experiment with this a bit to see if I can extend the time between hair washings. By day 3/4, my scalp is oily and starts itching, so that would be a good time to try to move that sebum down. Maybe. We'll see.

Thank you for sharing the video!!

I have been using a similar technique for almost two years now. I brush through every night and sometimes morning and I have not needed to wash at all! My hair is fine/medium (not certain but less fine than when I was younger) 1A and this is the best thing for my hair!

My hair generally does better if I actually wash it, since I like to wear it down and hate the way unwashed (even brushed like this) hair looks down for me. But I've tried methods like this between washes and they can be really nice!

I'm glad that you enjoyed it, too, illicitlizard!

I've been watching a bunch of videos from this site (https://www.youtube.com/@haartraum). At least one of the women they feature has thinning 1a hair like me. And there's at least one 1b/1c lady who has hair more like yours (from your pic). They don't suggest stretching washes for fine hair. They just say to do it gently and to use the right products.

You might enjoy these two videos from Snappy Dragon. In the first, she talks about how people used to keep their hair clean. In the second, the tries using one of these methods.
