I got a sample from Sephora and it works pretty well, but I hate the smell. I know some people look for dupes because Kérastase products are expensive. Has anyone found anything similiar to the night serum that doesn't stink?

It's not a dupe, but I did some research and I found BondiBoost Rapid Repair Serum at Ulta. It's unscented, which is good. I might try that when my sample is gone. Even though the Kérastase serum is stinky, it does a good job and I plan to use it up. lol

Any serum should do. Honestly, serums are not that different.

Eh, I disagree. Kérastase serums are a league of their own in my opinion! Hard to find dupes here unfortunately.

I have had high end serums and my Aldi and Lidl one? Just as good.
I mean it's a serum, not a split end mender. ;)
ETA/ I tried the "elixir ultime" once. Borrowed it from my mom (who has it)... this was a while ago. I just saw no sense in continuing use of it while I had these other ones doing the exact same thing. YMMV, of course, as always. :)

Have you tried any of the ones from L’Oreal? I know they have some night hair serums. And since Kerastase is owned by L’Oreal too, according to some of these science-y ingredient experts, chances are they buy their ingredients in bulk and use them across their product lines. Not sure how the serums are performance wise comparatively, but maybe some reviews out there might tell you..

Exactly. It's not that they are going to totally change up a formula, it's all L'Oréal.

Just a thought... could it come down to concentration? Perhaps some high end serums, conditioners etc are just more concentrated, MORE of the good stuff? Because something the ingredient lists look so similar!

I don't think it's more concentrated. I used the same amount of the essence ultime as I do now of the Aldi & Lidl serums. More scent, that's for sure. LOL!

Just wanted to clarify since I’m the one who said that about the ingredients. But it’s possible. The overall formula could be different all together . I think what’s similar is individual ingredients are purchased in bulk, so chances are they are used across the companies various brands, but it doesn’t mean individual products will be exactly the same. Worth checking out though, just in case, I think.

I have sometimes had the same results with cheap and high end, and at other times better results with high end. So, I have no clue. But I have heard a lot of good things about Kerastase. It's just not for me, it's way too expensive and im getting very nice results with my conditioner bar + oils from the grocery store as leave ins. Sorry about hijacking the thread! Maybe I would just look for another good serum rather than a dupe.

I ended up ordering a full-sized bottle. I used the sample enough times that the scent doesn't bother me anymore. I don't love it, but I can deal with it. And it goes away quickly.
