Yeah, I kinda like that this one is not photo driven. I tend to get obsessive if I start tracking like that :bigeyes: so I support this chill version of the thread :thumbsup:

I need to figure out my growth rate again, last I checked I came in at .75" a month but this was several years ago. I suspect that I'm still on pace though considering how frequently I need to trim my bangs :lol:

The sides are bleached but I am quite grey there usually I'm thinking of keeping them I just did them blond to make the regrowth less obvious

My length was actually 96cm when I first measured it but then, over excited, I accidentally pulled out the longest racer, oh fate, why are you so cruel!
I had to resist the urge to tilt my hair backward to make it longer, nope, I need to be honest and this will be an important reference point.
Since this was a special occasion and I wanted my hair to look pretty after the WO wash and air dry, this is also the first time I used a wooden comb to smooth my hair in 2 months since I started the fingercomb journey in August.
I decide to use the comb very rarely like once a month.

It’s not November yet, but I water rinsed my hair last night, and this morning as soon as I woke up and felt my hair was completely dry, I measured it.
It’s official, I’m now 97cm, 2cm longer than I was on October 2nd. I can’t believe my eyes, 2cm of hair growth in less than a month, a cool month (my average was 1.5cm in a hot/warm month)
What’s more surprising is that even though I have been shedding slightly more hair since early September than I did in summer, on top of the mechanical damage I caused by taking part in the ABC Bun challenge where I redid my hair 4-5 times a day, causing inevitable shed and breakage, my high ponytail circumference is now 10.5cm (+0.5cm) and low ponytail is 9.6cm (+0.6cm).

I think the contributing hair growth factors are:
no trim or S&D;
daily minoxidil;
daily oil from my scalp to end (just 2 drops of DIY henna/garlic/sublime sulfur infused multi-oil so my head is never greasy);
I gave up the inversion method;
massage daily (1-minute finger, 30-60 minutes with my electronic octopus);
no heat (air dry only);
no elastic ties (I only did a pony with a scrunchy once for my Jumbo Bun and took it down in an hour);
fingercomb only, I only used a wide-tooth wooden comb once on October 2nd for the photo shoot;
LLLT treatment, 25 minutes every other day;
I stopped doing my weekly pre-poo hot oil treatment, and do weekly water rinse only instead, with monthly shampoo;
I did ACV rinse after each wash, I also drink a tiny bit of ACV before my meals for better digestion;
bun/braid 99% of the time;
sleep in a braid inside a silk bonnet on top of a silk pillowcase, I wash the bonnet/pillowcases/bedding more often than my hair,
sufficient hydration: 3L of plain water a day, yes, I have a lot of bathroom trips, and I poop 1-2 times a day;
intense physical activity: 1-hour cardio/core/weight training a day, 6 days a week;
30+ minutes of casual walking/climbing stairs after supper every day;
transforming my spinning bike into my computer table so I can work while biking;
protein-heavy food with a great variety of meat, egg, fruit, vegetables, nuts, and fungus, I eat onions or garlic almost every day ever since I heard about the importance of sulfur, I also have more bone broth, fish skin and gelatin for natural collagen;
I actually consumed less dairy and fewer grains this month;
I lost 1.5kg of weight, my fat is 0.6% lower, and my muscle is 0.4% higher.
supplements: multiple minerals and vitamins (the whole alphabet lol), biotin (technically Vitamin H), collagen, MSM, fish oil, lecithin, ginger, turmeric, kelp/sea moss, on top of my medicines, etc.
I had been a bit disappointed that my 30-day collage-loading in September hadn't promoted as much hair growth as I expected, but I'm glad I continued the regiment in October, after two months of excessive nutrient consumption, it proved to be really working, my body only grows more hair and nail after all the important organs and physical functions have been satisfied first, and my new growth from September could finally be caught a bit by my pony;
Less stress and more financial support: My dad’s medical bills got insurance, and I started getting more steady paid work after being in between jobs from March to August;

I will come up with more if I can think about more. I’m pretty sure 99% of the population is not actively growing hair as crazy as I am. But all I do is to push my body to reach my maximum gene potential for hair growth, my parents both have thick hair and I used to have a lot more hair than I do now, my big shed was caused by the stress from helping my dad fight cancer, sleep deprivation, malnutrition, lack of exercise, hormonal imbalances (I have tiny lumps in my chest and uterus). I am fighting for myself now and hopefully I can reclaim iii fair and square by next year.
I will update the monthly length photo tomorrow. Yay!

2cm is too little to be noticeable, it’s all my racers.

This is my day 2 hair, I had water rinse on Sunday, the photo was taken on Tuesday, I’d been bunning al day so the waves were inevitable. I tried a mist of water but still couldn’t tame the ends.

My hair is at 58cm right now (from the top of my forehead to the bottom of my stretched wurl on the back, not sure that’s how you measure), which is APL. I want it at solid WL (not stretched), which is about 20-25cm more.

I’m curious what my growth rate is, so monthly check ins sound like a great idea.

Here's mine from today, November 1 2022!
I'm just at BSL, and have decided to grow out some of these layers.
Yesterday was wash day, and I used Esthetic House CP-1 scalp scaler, Olaplex shampoo, Kerastase Cicaextreme mask, and Olaplex conditioner. Leave-ins were Olaplex 6 and a little bit of rosehip oil. I let it air dry for a couple hours, then put in some mousse (Aveda foamollient) and let my hair dry overnight in braids.

I'm so confused now! First I was at hip, then it was shorter than hip and now I'm past hip, almost at tailbone.

Will soon make a better picture. But today I conditioned with a new conditioner and I wanted to see how it worked out.

December 4th fell on Sunday so I decided to take my monthly measurements after my long-waited shampoo day. (It’s been six weeks since I last shampooed.) And of course I shed a lot of hair this month due to the pressure, sleep deprivation, poor diet from the 6th hospitalization with my dad fighting his cancer with immunotherapy and chemotherapy.
I only gained 1cm to 98cm this last month, and my pony circumference dropped 0.2cm, so sad.
I hope I can reach 100cm by Chinese New Year because I don’t think I can hit that mark by January 1st at this rate.
I will treat myself better in December.

Not that you can tell but December 9th ish I self trimmed some bits from the top to blend bangs Into the rest ofy hair but you can't tell from the back

I did! Going to try not trimming for 6 months includes sides and all but if fail I'll then work towards a one length bob

That's great! I love how vibrant your hair colour is right now, it fits your personality. And I hope you succeed with your plan! The growing out phase is certainly the most infuriating one, since it's so difficult to style sometimes, but after chin length it's way more simple.

For me, I think I can manage not trimming the first 6 months, but I'm not sure what I'll be doing the other half of the year. It depends if I develop split ends or not.

Looks like I trimmed a bit too much during my new year’s trim. Was just planing to even out layers a bit not going back to waist length, but ended up a bit too uneven first.

Thankyou! yeah, it is nice knowing that it won't feel like a long time until there is a noticeable difference. :) septum piercing has been my favourite I've had so far because i can barely feel it there and i don't have to be careful with rubbing my face on a towel (like a side nose piercing lol).

I have 2 nose piercing and had my septum done I had to take the septum out because it keeps making me sneeze and I never had it visible

far too many times!! ive also succeeded ripping out the stud ones in my sleep and losing them many times, ring was better for that at least.

you know what, i noticed i was sneezing more and more violently as well in my first year of having the septum. i don't know if im more used to it or because i went down a gauge but it hasnt been so noticeable to me since. but definitely a thing!

For measuring, you might find it easier to measure from the front hairline at the top of your forehead, over the top of your head, and straight down the back. That's the easiest way to get a consistent, accurate starting point and how most of us measure. Hope this helps:)

Congrats!! The first 6 months are the most excrutiating ones when it comes to growing out dye (last year I've cut my last bits of dye). Your hair looks really nice, you must be taking good care of it :).

I haven't been on this forum so much the past month, just logged in whatever products I bought and what I've finished, but I haven't really read what others have written around here. I needed a little break, because I've been obssessed with my hair, I wanted it to grow overnight, I bought a bunch of products so I can feel that I'm doing something for my hair, etc. I'm so thankful for imposing the rule of no trimming for 6 months, because I might've cut it short (I sometimes dislike my layers... though other times I think they suit me so much). Anyway, I think I'm better now. It's always a nice feeling commenting on your photos and exchanging a few encouraging words! :flower:

Hi, very old timer here! I kept my hair shorter for a while, around shoulders. This is today. Stretched it is to my waist, but a little bit to go until it will look like waist. I don't do the measuring thing anymore, this length snuck up on me with benign neglect and it is a good way to continue. I think I would like to let it grow to hip length / waist length braid, but we will see.

it's not the best comparison because my hair is wavy, but its gonna be a while now until hair wash day and i wanted to do my monthly photo.

I've been shedding hair like crazy this month. luckily its currently not visible. and im assuming by the length being the same wavy in the second pic as the straight length last month that is has managed to grow.

I'm noticing a growth pattern on my hair - looks like one month the middle grows faster and it gets a bit more V-shaped, then the next month the sides catch up :D
Oh and I figured out why my color looks so crazy when I upload - these side-by-sides are screenshots of two photos opened together and that reduces the quality/saturates the colors. It's much more muted IRL.

I haven’t trimmed my hair since the pandemic and I don’t even do S&D anymore since my virgin hair doesn’t have any split ends. Fairytail is my favorite hemline.
I have passed classic and I’m now very close to fingertip length.
I fingercomb and bun only, never use elastics, heat, or a brush.
I oil my hair from scalp to tip every day with a tiny amount of DIY blackseed oil.
The last time I shampooed was February 6th. I only shampoo every 4-6 weeks. I make do with weekly water only rinse. The less manipulation, the better for hair.

I will not consider thickening my hemline unless I've reached my knee, but by then I will probably aim for the calf or ankle lol. Just, let it grow, one milestone after another.
My end goal is terminal and I'm curious to see if I can go beyond the floor.

Thank you and lol, yes, it's been one month! According to the tape measure, it's been growing around 1.5cm(2/3in?)/month since I joined, which is fairly average. It does look more impressive in photos though, so I mostly just look at that now :lol:

Sorry to hear about the breakup, hope you recover soon! That looks like some pretty decent growth, I know what you mean about front vs back, I've noticed that my hair growth alternates somewhat month to month - in one monthly photo I'd see the back speeding up and forming a bit of a V shape, the next month the sides/front catch up and it gets back to the U :shrug:

I didn't mean to be strict with my monthly photo's, but it's exactly one month later that I felt the urge to make a hair photo.
My ends are doing ok, reasonable amount of broken ends but it's normal for my hair. Everybody keeps telling me my hair looks better down, but I hate my hair getting tangled and my ends become dry somehow from wearing it down.

I am a self-proclaimed fingertip length now lol.

My hair didn’t grow as normal, seems very little length gained.
Did it have to do with the fact that I take multiple vitamins every other week (I take them every day for seven days, then stop taking any for seven days, then restart the cycle, etc, so as to avoid long term reliance and toxics), reduce my daily collagen peptides to 20g from 30g (but I almost always drink 200ml of milk but less than 2.5l of water everyday) for the past three months?
I can’t be approaching my terminal so soon, right?
Luckily, today I checked my low ponytail circumference and it’s very close to 10cm, my high ponytail circumference is still 9cm, I think that’s because the hair regrowth near my nape area finally caught up. I manipulated hair less in April than I did in March.

lol thank you, I think so as well, when evenly brushed out (and not purposefully gathered by my fist) my hemline has the illusion of an unkempt layered U shape (hilariously, the little wavy ends shrink my hair back to tailbone length at this angle). I haven’t had a trim since the pandemic, so all the hair naturally grew from my last APL-BSL blunt cut by my mom.

It looks beautiful! :crush: it took me a bit to settle on measuring and taking length photos the day after a wash, with brushed out waves. It’s the most consistent, but still I don’t usually see a difference, and sometimes the measurement is still the same as previous month. Which is why I kinda stopped posting monthly photos.

It looks beautiful! :crush: it took me a bit to settle on measuring and taking length photos the day after a wash, with brushed out waves. It’s the most consistent, but still I don’t usually see a difference, and sometimes the measurement is still the same as previous month. Which is why I kinda stopped posting monthly photos.

I did become pretty good at measure the hair last time I did grow it out, but that was pre-layers which I’m currently slowly trimming them away (last layered hair cut was December 21). Now it just feels like I can’t find where the ends really ends.

I am back to posting monthly length shots for now! I grew about 1/2” this month, here is last months for comparison since I didn’t post it in this thread. The ends are feeling so much healthier and are waving and flipping a lot— perhaps from K18 treatments for a month but trying to not be too excited since that bottle was a lot of $$$ I just really want it to work, but don’t want to trick myself :silly:

It's that time of the month again :D
The stripes are not striping the same way, I'm sitting down vs standing up and my hair is not fully dry so tough to tell exactly what has happened, but something has :lol: I think it's one of those months where my sides have grown more than the middle.
Also my natural color is starting to get visible from the back, yay!

I’ve tried but it seems I can’t measure properly, it always varies within a 2cm/1” range… when I started in the end of October, it read 58-60cm, now it’s 66-68cm. I did get a 2cm trim in February, so it’s definitely <1”/month, but probably more than 1/2” :shrug:

my hairloss started getting better then my long term partner and i broke up and its ramped up again. not sure about the back but the front of my hair has managed to grow a bit this month at least, more even now with the back.

Hey guys! What a cool thread :) Only just found it. I'm very excited to track milestones. Long story short, I've tried having long hair all my life. Longest it's been was waist length but it looked hideous, straw like, uneven. I now realise I had a lot of breakage. Back in the day I had no idea how to deal with my hair. I know a lot more now, but still struggling now and again. At least I know my hair type (high porosity) and that it often needs protein. Last year I chopped it to chin lenght. I am planning to grow it back to waist, healthy looking. I think it would be nice to keep track of my growth to post a picture every month wearing the same outfit (wearing this weird top specifically to make it easier seeing how much it's grown :D). So here's a first, and then next month this date the next!

My hemline is surprisingly decent considering the fact that I haven’t trimmed for 4 years now, I grew it out from APL/BSL blunt cut by my mom before the pandemic.
Yesterday I lost my possibly longest racer (88cm) so I thought, well, that settled the problem of whether I should microtrim 1cm this month, Mother Nature has already done it for me and I don’t even need to pick up the scissors. Okay, I will continue my no-trim journey until I reach my knee.

Freshly shampooed and air dried overnight, I’m SSS 106cm now.
I am trying so hard to show you what fingertip length hair looks like in a pony tail: you can barely reach the tip even when your arm stretches to the limit.

You’re not imagining, it’s slowly moving along :D It’s funny to see how unevenly it grows when you look at it from the roots lol, there’s a patch on the right side that’s growing much faster than the rest and I noticed that with the bleach and I’m seeing it with the henna grow out too :lol: I wonder how much the parting of my hair affects that if at all..

You know you are a long hair when your hair ends always escape the 9:16 frame and instagram’s 4:5 cropping ratio doesn’t help at all. I am already standing on top of a bench and lifting up on my tiptoes.

Hi everyone, your hair all looks wonderful and is growing great! There's something so satisfying about progress pictures.
I've just been kind of passively growing mine as just a laziness thing but I've really fallen in love with my long hair! It's approaching the longest it's ever been, and that's without oiling the ends! I'm going to start taking proper care of my hair and see how long I can get!

November length update! Styled with gel and mousse on wet hair in the shower, plopped for a little bit, then diffused on low heat/low speed for ~20 min and air dried the rest of the way.
I did an S&D session yesterday, and that's all the scissors I want to encounter for a while.

November length update! Styled with gel and mousse on wet hair in the shower, plopped for a little bit, then diffused on low heat/low speed for ~20 min and air dried the rest of the way.
I did an S&D session yesterday, and that's all the scissors I want to encounter for a while.

Good progress over the last two months. I may need to get a new measurement shirt since I’ve really outgrown the text I was using to gauge my milestone lengths off of. And I’m super excited that my longest locks hit hip length when stretched, so I’m hoping those will be tickling hip by the new year when unstretched

It’s so close to hip (my hands are on the tops of my hip bone for reference). I hate that I have such a deep V hemline because my longest strands will hit a milestone but then the bulk takes forever to feel the same length. I don’t know if I’m ready to call it hip just yet. I think i may do like I did with waist and wait a few months until I can’t deny it any longer

Thanks! I think my taper is due to growing from buzzed sides and the natural layers I’ve developed. I’m focusing on length rather than hemline, so I just kind of deal with it. The downside is it fuels my hair dysmorphia where I think it’s still shorter than APL. I think I was a solid inch or so past waist before I called it. I’ll probably end up doing something similar when it comes to calling hip

Length is coming along! Unfortunately I feel like my hair has gotten a lot thinner and I've had (what seems like) more hair fall than usual. I had Covid in early 2023 so maybe that's to blame. My mom's hair also thinned out a bit as she got older (I'm in my 30s, but I don't think hers started this early), so to be on the safe side I sent a very humbling message to my doctor asking for medicine.

LongLocke, your hair looks really good! Hip is one of my favorite lengths.

I think my waves have relaxed some as my hair gets longer! So I didn't get such an insane amount of growth (I wish), I just have a different wave pattern showing a little more length.

Feb. 1 to Mar. 1 dry. I don't love this comparison because I rough blow dried on a cool setting to get ready to straighten it, so the wave pattern is different

A couple of little crises in between :rolleyes: Anyway, I thought I had been making headway, but just created a new comparison and am a little annoyed that it's so little! I should've been at the strap according to earlier growth rates :S I didn't do onion juice in the months in between, and had a severe lung infection. You think physical/mental stress contributes? Then again, this has always somehow been a hard length to get past for me. I haven't cut it yet, now for almost 1,5 year. Going to have a peek at the rest of you now :) happy growing!
