What would be the effect of doing this on very long hair?

A lot of it is probably the lighting. I can get that kind of shine in the sunlight.

I recently bought the Bed Head Headrush one and it’s life changing! It’s basically makeup for the hair (just adds shine and doesn’t treat it) but it washes off with shampoo and doesn’t do anything bad. I get stopped in the streets and I just share the rec!

I think also heat styling helps. My hair is very opaque, but if I use the flat iron I see some shine.

Not at all! I do not apply it near my roots though.

I agree with above that heat styling and lighting help, my hair always looks even shinier when heat styled (presumably because everything is uniformly smoothed in the same direction).

Plenty of product, finishing sprays, the lot. Doesn't matter that it gets "dirty" from product to an inch of its life, it's one show and done.
