I'm not sure if this is the right section for this or not...maybe it would fit better under conventional products? I just thought that since the oil has a lot of natural/herbal ingredients it should go here.

Anyway, I was in the dollar store today, and in the Ethnic section I found a bottle of Africa's Best Ultimate Herbal Oil. Has anyone else ever used this before? The ingredients list sounded pretty good to me (this is EXACTLY how they're listed on the bottle):

Soy Bean Oil, Walnut Seed Oil, Kiwi Fruit Extract, Olive Oil, Castor Seed Oil, Sesame Seed Oil, Jojoba Seed Oil, Carrot Seed Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Safflower Oil, and Calendula Extract and Yarrow Extract and Cucumber Extract and Carageenan Extract and Ginseng Extract and Sage Extract and Comfrey Extract and Aloe Extract, Fragrance

I kind of figured that those all sound like good oils, so I've got a mixture of it and some Tahitian Monoi oil covering my hair from ears down. I'm going to sleep on it and rinse out in the morning. The only other oiling I've done was using EVOO, and that worked okay, but I was SO excited to get my Monoi oil in today that I just had to use it tonight. I just tossed a bit of the Africa's best in there with the coconut for good measure, and if it doesn't turn out well tomorrow I'll just eliminate one or the other next time and then vice versa the time after that and see which works better.

But my main point in posting this thread was to ask if anyone has heard of/tried this oil. If so, did you like it?

Also, because y'all know MUCH more about what oils are and aren't (usually, I know it depends on the type) good for hair, do the ingredients in this sound promising? I don't think I've read anything about using Walnut, Carrot, Safflower, or Soybean Oils on hair, so I hope they're okay!

This is a rather good and inexpensive oil, and covers many bases. Its much less expensive than coconut oil (as the unrefined pure one can be quite pricey), and great to start out with. I've moved on from it, but return to it now and again as its good for my pocket book.

Sounds like a great oil to me and there's nothing in there that would cause me to be concerned, other than fragrance if you are sensitive to that. I'm sure there was a thread on this oil once and the reviews were good, i've never actually seen it in a shop or i probably would have tried it......good luck :)

I bought one a few weeks ago at walmart for like $2.
It was called africa's best maximum strength super gro.
Been meaning to use it but I forget.
The couple times I did you use it I noticed it really made my scalp feel good.

Oh, I'm sorry...I did a search for it and didn't see a thread on it, but maybe I overlooked it.

Tonight is the first time I've applied oil all the way to the scalp, actually. When I did the olive oil I just did ears and below, but tonight I did a really heavy oiling with coconut oil and a bit o fthe Africa's Best,, and I'm excited to see how my hair turns out tomorrow!

Looks like most people who used it liked it.
Nobody mentions if it really helps their hair grow?

I may be wrong, but I *think* they're two separate products. Mine doesn't have Super Gro on it, it's just "Ultimate Herbal Oil."

In any case, I used it last night along with my Monoi Coconut oil, and I LOVE the results. Love. My hair has never, ever been this soft, frizz-free and conditioned. Now, granted, this was the fist time I've ever used coconut oil on my hair, so I don't know how much the Africa's Best added to the benefits of that. But all in all I couldn't be happier with the results.

I'm doing another (!) treatment of both the coconut oil and the Africa's Best on my hair tonight because I have to wash my hair again in the morning before I henna tomorrow afternoon. Is it possible/bad to do *too* many heavy overnight oilings?

How does it smell?? I saw this once at wal-mart but was very wary of trying anything like this.

I tried it and found that even though it smelled good in the bottle and right after it is applied to my hair, it soon becomes rancid smelling. I talked to several other ladies that used it and they said the same thing. Now, I just stick to mixing my own oil to use. Many like Africa's Best Ultimate Herbal Oil and it works for them so, I guess it just depends on individual taste.

I will not use anything with comfrey or coltsfoot extract but from the ingredient list, there is not much comfrey in it.

I don't think so, My hair and scalp thrive on basically staying mostly soaked in coconut oil through the winter and i leave my hair covered to the point of looking wet for up to a week at a time before washing it.

Oh, WOW. After my henna has had time to set and oxidize, I'm *so* going to keep my hair heavily oiled for three or four days straight. I bet it will make it look and feel awesome. (Your hair is absolutely GORGEOUS!!)
