Perhaps because my hair is thinner, I can't wear all toys in all types of buns.
For single sticks I can only make Nessa Buns and Spock wraps {probably my most worn bun] I can also wear narrow forks with this bun.
Most other buns Nautilus, Spock, Posh, and LWB I must use at least a 2 prong fork.
LWB Really work best with 3 and 4 prong forks.

I wear a nautilus so seldom I do not have a pic.
So what are some of your toy preferences?

I'm just about to head out the door, so I don't have time to write much of a reply. :) But I had to say that your hair and the forks are lovely!

I generally use a 2 prong fork for everything, but I have a collection of sticks that I can use by themselves or in pairs. Pairs stay straight better, but the single stick still holds just a bit loose as the days goes on.

It depends on how tight or loose I make the bun. Some buns, especially those that involve wrapping around the hand work better with a wider fork, but in most cases the same bun can be constructed by wrapping around a few fingers instead. Some don't need any alteration to work with a slightly different tool. I usually wear a Spider Mom's Bun with a single stick, but a two prong fork works just as well, with one tine inserted through the loops and the other tine outside the loops and catching scalp hair.

I have fine and thin hair as well. I find some sticks are better than others for keeping buns in. I haven’t tried many forks; the one I do have is quite thin, but stays in my hair.
If I were to go for a much more thicker and sturdier woodenone, for example, I think it would be too heavy for my hair. Unless, my hair was at a much greater length.

Thank you so much.
Necko wrote "It depends on how tight or loose I make the bun." I think this does make a difference.

Are the twisted single screws better than forks or vice versa?

I tend to do Gibraltar and Spock buns loosely, because I like the poufy bun look, so I need three prongs, or two 2-prong Quattros for a Gibraltar. Also need three prongs for a LWB, although they don't hold as well as they used to, even with three prongs. I have never heard of the Nessa bun but I will have to try it out now. I can do a Nautilus with any number of prongs, or a thick stick, or two thinner sticks, although I do have to make it tighter if I use sticks and spread it out a bit to do it with a 3-prong fork.
