View Full Version : My Artic Fox experiment on virgin brown hair!

I used Arctic Fox "Virgin Pink" on my virgin brown hair and it came out way more vibrant than I expected! I hope that doesn't mean my hair is damaged. 🤔 Isn't curly hair more of an open cuticle? Maybe that's why. Maybe it will still fade out fast. I left it on for 40 minutes like it says.

My hair is in undefined fluff ball because you have to shampoo with no conditioner or products before hand. (Curly hair's worst nightmare.) And I wasn't clear on whether you can condition or use products after rinsing it out, so I didn't to be safe. So it's not my best hair day, but these are the results!

OOOOH I love it! So glad too see you got a good colour payoff :o
Now to see how long it lasts :hmm: I'm mega curious! This could be a solution for my inevitable boredom once I get to my goal length!

I wouldn't say that it means your hair is damaged, my guess is it's a combination of the dye you used (I've never tried arctic fox) and your natural texture/porosity.

That is pretty, like a dusty rose pink! Do you like the colour?

I am curious how long it will last too. I alternate sulfate free shampoo and cowash, so maybe that will help it not fade too fast.

Thanks, yes I do! It's pretty much the shade I expected over brown hair, it's just brighter than I thought. I thought maybe you wouldn't even tell except in sunlight.

I've always wanted pink hair but haven't wanted to deal with bleaching, So this is really interesting to me that you can still get "pink" without bleaching...Might have to experiment with this myself

It looks great! Check out the ISO other colorful longhairs thread (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=125938&highlight=colorful) if you decide you want to keep it pink. It's full of people who have a lot of experience using these dyes, many on unprocessed hair.

But tl;dr, a nice vibrant color doesn't mean your hair is damaged, you can use your regular products after you rinse it out, and it lasts longer if you leave it on longer than the recommended time.

Yeah I am really pleasantly surprised how well it worked!

Ok thanks for letting me know! My hair feels awful using no conditioner (or styling products but that's not as bad) so I won't be doing that again lol. I want to rewash just to condition and style it properly but I'll wait a couple days.

Awesome shade, like a deep rose! And your curls look amazing even without conditioner :crush:

Your hair looks very healthy, but it looks like you had some subtle color variation due to sunlight. Pretty sure it's nothing worrisome.

That is really beautiful, and has me tempted to try it now that my hair is short again, I stopped dying at about waist several years ago because it was too much hassle. My hair is a bit darker than yours but I have greys and light streaks so I think it would look good.

Yours looks amazing! really gorgeous.

My word :thudpile: that came out amazingly well!

(I think I've read that adding a small amount of dye to your conditioner when you wash can help keep it bright, if that's any help.)

It's called Point Blur and the pattern called Honey is the most blurring one. :)

It's awesome! I think your hair color was just light enough to come out bright with that dye.

That's a very pretty color! And, I think your hair is very healthy. Just have different colors for the sunlight. But nothing to be worried about.

I put this in the general picture thread too, but this is after my first normal wash. I think this is a more accurate color than the other set of pics, it's more purple than red.

Here's my update after 3 washes. (The first one was cowash, the other 2 were sulfate-free shampoo.) It fades a lot each wash and the shampoo suds turn very pink lol. I actually like it more as it fades. It's more like a tint over my natural color.

Wow I absolutely love that! And might I just say that your "undefined fluff ball" hair is incredibly gorgeous?? I can only imagine how good it looks when you think it looks good!

I actually have some pictures I can contribute because I've done this before, only with the "turquoise" color!

More or less freshly dyed:

A bit of fading, it got greener as it faded!:

A month or two later it faded into a dark green! Not the best lighting, but accurately portrays how different it looks in different lighting.
Also note I was stretching washes to make the color last as LONG as possible + I was sulphate-free at the time.

0xalis, thank you so much! Wow, your hair came out really nice and colorful! It's fun to go through different shades as it fades.
