You will need a ribbon and, to make your life easier, a large eyed blunt sewing needle such as a tapestry needle.

There are certainly videos out there but I don't have the patience to watch multiple videos to pick a clear one, so if you know of or find a good one or make one, please post!

Make two dutch braids and tie them off at the bottom. Start the ribbon at the top (bottom would certainly work as well) thread the ribbon between the two braids, one half of the ribbon on each side. If using a needle, stitch one side of the ribbon back and forth between the two braids. When you get to the bottom switch the needle to the other half of the ribbon and repeat. If not using a needle you can shove the ribbon through the braid anchors with your fingers and alternate sides if you like. Tie the ends of the ribbon in a bow. Do what you want with the length of the braids (bun, tuck up under the dutch braids, let hang).

There are so many possibilities with this technique! You could use leather or other material instead of ribbon, vary the distance between the two braids, do more braids, start at the bottom and bow at the top. Innovate away!

Here is my slightly messy attempt. (I have no needle, shocking.)

It looks like I took the remaining ribbon and wrapped each side of the ribbon around the nearest braid before bunning.

I did this in all of my length in 2016. It took forever back then! No way that I'm ever doing it in all of my hair again  But I can do some easier version of it some day :p

So pretty, both of you!
I've pretty much sworn off Dutch braids. I wonder if an English braided variation is possible.

You could certainly do the length of two braids like Tatsu did.

I think I should make the braids closer together at the beginning though

At first I thought this hairstyle looked a bit funny, but at the same time I was loving how it looks on you all so I decided to give this a try.
I think using a black ribbon on my dark hair wasn't the best idea as it's barely noticeable, but I still liked it!
It also gives it a more "professional" look, so I could maybe wear it to work.

Thank you! Yes, they require their fair share of patience to do, but it looks so nice! I think I'll reserve this for a fancy event or something :p
