Hello and welcome!

Do you love videogames and like to experiment with different hairstyles? Have you ever played a game and found yourself wanting to recreate a style? Do you have accounts on both LHC and GameFAQS?

If so this thread might be for you.

I wanted to make a place where gamers can come to share hairstyles inspired by our favorite videogame characters.

I first thought of this thread while casually playing a silly app game called "love Nikki" and was reminded of it again while playing through Horizon Zero Dawn.

I know that sometimes we can fall into a bit of a rut hairstyle wise. So, I thought this would be a fun way to shake things up!

Please feel free to post any game related hairstyles here or use the thread for advice on how to create a look.

ETA: I'm not sure how popular this thread will be, but I look forward to seeing any contributions that might come from it. :D

Good idea! Not a gamer per se and my hair is still too short but one day I'll try Beatrice from Umineko.

Skyrim also has a few decent hairstyles, particularly braids.

I've done League of Legends inspired hairstyles before (K/DA Kai'Sa is my favorite) and am about to channel Chun Li as soon as some bun covers come in. Though the latter is definitely more an inspiration than a direct copy. But I always notice hair in video games when my husband is playing. An Assassin's Creed Valhalla style perhaps? Their braids are fun.

This is fun! I was just playing horizon zero dawn this weekend wondering how to recreate her hair - it looks like it's dreaded at the top. It also must be super textured and gritty to not be constantly in her face... my hair isn't even that long and it's always finding it's way into my mouth/eyes/nose lol.

Oh awesome! I actually figured out how to do part of the updo worn by Lunafreya in Final Fantasy 15, and it's a fantastic style for people who have hair right around shoulder/APL length, especially if it's wavy or curly. I gotta go dig out some of my photos!

A style I did almost 4 years ago. A couple of guys I know worked on the game Horizon Zero Dawn and I liked her hairstyle. It helped Aloy has red hair too

LHC never ceases to amaze me. I half expected this thread to gather dust and disappear. :)

Good idea! Not a gamer per se and my hair is still too short but one day I'll try Beatrice from Umineko.

That would be gorgeous! I look forward to seeing it someday!

If you have photos I'd love to see your League of Legends looks! Video game inspired looks are fabulous! Chun Li was my favorite street fighter character when I was a kid.

Horizon Zero Dawn is such a good game.

If you look closely at screen shots of her hair on a large screen you can make out what appears to be a tucked French braid on the top surrounded by three or four rows of French braids on each side. Together it seems like it makes an intricate little half up. I don't think she has any dreads but I do think it looks like the hair could be matted under the braids as if she did them so long ago that the braids have grown out and become a bit matted.

Her hair is wavy and that combined with the half up probably explains why her hair stays out of her face. Waves have a tendency to clump more than straight hair. :)

That looks awesome on you! I love seeing it in brown. The volume is lovely. :)

Thank you! It is a very voluminous look, because I'm not in possession of much hair, lol. Someone who has more could probably do the crossed braids in the front, but when I do little braids like that they have a tendency to just look sad.

It's also a style that can eat up a lot of length. My hair is probably right around APL in that photo, but the style is basically just a french twist without the ends tucked in. And once I figured it out, I wear it all the time!

Also, I'm really excited about this thread, and now I gotta go find some more hairstyles to replicate.

That's fantastic and your color is *chef's kiss* perfect

It actually reminds me of some of those braided Skyrim styles, too.

My hair is a little too short for most hairstyles I can think of, but I have some links if anyone needs some ideas. Silvousplaits had a handful of good video game hair tutorials:
