Hi guys,

Does anyone have those hair in front of the ears (Not sideburns!) that doesn't seem to grow long. Just stick out and look frizzy. Im tempted to cut them off but then it will look a little. funny when it grows back. Any tips to promote them to grow?

I had a theory its because I wear glasses and maybe to the constant abrasion is wearing them.

Thanks in advance

Like baby hairs at the edge of the scalp? I notice these if I wear my hair up. If I want my hair to look tamed I’ll stick them back with some aloe Vera gel, but mostly I can’t be bothered.

I have those types of hairs, but I just accept that the front portion of my hair, anything in front of my earline will always be shorter, and I just ignore it. It is kind of a mix of poofy shorter hairs that don't grow very much before they shed, mixed with some longer hairs that do grow "normally" long. I don't even try to tame any of that hair. I have had them tamed by a hairdresser before, who took a flat iron to them, which did in fact tame them and make them smooth and silky, but that isn't something I bother to do myself. I also wear glasses, and I think it probably contributed to abrasion of the hairs just around the top of the ear, as they seem to have become more prone to breakage after I started wearing the glasses a couple years ago.

I have those, and I don't wear glasses. I've just always had them. Mine curl! Sometimes they want to tuck over my ears, but usually they don't stay. I let them do what they want to. They're usually 3-5" long.

It’s normal. The baby hairs at your hairline are always gonna be short and whispy. Like Feral_ says you can slick them down with water or product, use a boar bristle brush to smooth them down, or just roll with it (or some combo of the above lol.) I like mine most right after I shower without washing my hair (I usually bun my hair with no shower cap) because the steam makes them ringlet up. Cute!

Mine stick straight out every chance they get and I recently thought of cutting them off too but I’m afraid that would make things worse. I decided today that they seem more like beard hair than anything and that thought makes me like them even less! Fortunately they can be controlled somewhat with creams, oils and/or smoothing with a bbb.

Yup, mine always stick out. I tuck them behind my ears when I notice them, but on a humid day I get this halo of baby hairs around my face.

Oh yes, mine often get 'caught' by my glasses arms and form a loop sticking out at the side  I used to have two fairly thick chunks that never, ever grew long enough to reach my ponytail before finding LHC, but after giving up hairties they grew a bit, and using a satin pillowcase and bonnet at night they kept growing a bit longer. So now I just have thin bits that really don't grow long enough to make it into my bun. I have tried to pull them in front of my ears and put my glasses carefully over them but that takes effort and doesn't always work either, plus having the hair on my cheek annoys me and I automatically try to tuck it behind my ears anyway.

I used to trim them to get them one length before LHC and it really didn't help, just had these two short blunt locks doing their thing. I've never cut them off but they have been victim to subconscious, anxious pulling to the point where I pulled most of them out, so they've regrown from scratch a few times and that experience tells me that cutting them off would not help either. There's a length when they first regrow that looks kind of cute because they curl slightly, but only for a month or so and the rest of the time they're fairly straight and blah. The length before they can stay tucked behind my ears does make them such straight out, especially when greasy - not a good look!

I have those too! The ones in front of my ears get about 4-6 inches and curl in spirals, even though the rest of my hair is mostly straight. I've also got baby hairs all along my hairline that only get maybe 1/2 inch and make it really difficult to do sleek looking styles. I think they're pretty normal and can be really cute!

I have those too. But lately I’ve noticed I have more due to breakage. Have you been wearing a mask this year? I realized the culprit (for me) are the elastic bands that go behind the ears of the masks I’ve been wearing, some are way worse than others I noticed. It seems some strands, usually finer hair, tends to entangled or stick itself to the rubber/elastic/plastic and I have to be really careful when removing the mask not to accidentally to the hair with it (pull out it break it). Windy days are the worst and wearing sunnies and a mask is double damage for me haha. I wonder if this could be your case?

All over the front hairline, so wherever hair touches the rest of the face, so around your entire hairline you will have wispy hairs; there's even a thread on embracing them. Apart from slicking them back there is fairly little else you can do. Do *not* cut them off!

Thank you for all the replies. Glad to know I'm not the only one with this. I would embrace them but do like sleek styles. Some of mine only grow an inch then become very frizzy. your profile bun is gorgeous btw. :o

Don't cut them, I did that in highschool and it looked afwul. Also hairspray makes it worse because the hairs get sticky and break very easily. Maybe you can try using some gel like the girl in this video:

Yes, maybe I should have elaborated on why you should not cut them off. They are short terminal length, so don't grow that far out. You have them at the front hairline, the nape, wherever the hair touches normal skin, the "edges" so to speak. They have tapered ends, so are quite easy to blend & hide should you want. Now, if you cut them off, you will be giving the ends more "thickness" due to blunt cutting them off; they will no longer be tapered/blend well, but have a sticky-out blunt end. If that made... any sense at all. Gosh, I gotta laugh at my own issues explaining stuff. :p

Oh, I have those! I don't wear glasses (well, reading glasses every once in awhile, for teeny tiny print), but they're always there. I have matching ones at both sides of the nape of my neck. Kind of poofy, don't ever grow much longer than 4-5 inches. I just try to ignore them....I sometimes tuck the ones in front behind my ears, or bobby pin the nape ones into my updo....but they generally escape. :-D

I have those short hairs, I wear glasses too but they were there before I wore glasses there. I usually bobby pin them. They still escape though so I redo my bun every couple of hours
