Apologies for the front pictures. I live alone and don't have anyone to take a photo for me from the back. I'm trying to take a photo from the back so will post soon.

I chopped my hair in October 2019 and this is now the current length.

Your growth doesn't look too slow; there appears to be a good difference between your photos. Do you keep track of your hair's measurements? Most people can expect 6 inches of growth in a year, but it can vary. That might ease your mind, but I wouldn't stress, looks like you're doing fine.
Pretty hair, BTW :)

This doesn't just look normal, it looks like pretty fast growth. Do you measure your lenght? That is the most accurate way to see how fast is your hair growth.

Hi. Thanks for your reply.

I did measure my hair growth. Last year it was around 10-11 inches when I cut it all off. Now its almost 20 inches.

Thank you. Sometimes I feel it just doesn't grow. Especially when I put my hair to the front. From the back it looks on the longer side.

Average yearly growth is about 6 inches, so you have done very well! Your hair looks great too!

I managed to take a photo from the back this time.
My hair was braided so I have the kinks . The 1st pic is today and the 2nd is from October 2019.

That is a lot of, and healthy looking, growth! May I ask how come you thought it might be slow growing?

Each time I put it on the front, there doesn't seem much if a difference so I was thinking if my hair was actually growing or not .

Mine only grows about 4-5 inches per year so take it from someone who truly has slow growing hair, your growth rate is great!

Thank you. I'm working on getting it silky but I think my ends seem very dry

That amount of growth like you are stating (20 inches) a year is not humanly possible. It just isn't. Chances are probably a hiccup in measurement. Hair only grows 6 inches average, that means maybe 4 for some or 8 for others. 20 is... just no!

If you measure the LHC way, it will be very accurate. So tape measure on the top of the forehead (where the hair starts), thrown over the back and then you measure where the hemline sits. This is so you have the same point of reference *each time* and it makes it very easy to keep track of it all.

It looks great & you did well!

I think she meant she grew about 9 inches. But that's still a huge amount of growth!

Hey 🙂

I mean my hair was between 10 to 11 inches when I cut my hair and now it seems between 19-20 inches. 20 inches is not possible to grow at all.

BTW do have any tips to keep the ends moisturized and healthy looking because in my pictures my ends seem a bit dry ???

Yes that's what I meant. 20 inches a year is impossible

I recommend looking into both double conditioning (you could only double condition the very ends and the rest only once) and the LOC/LCO method. The links to both are in lapushka's signature!

Thanks. But do the ends seem a bit dry? I posted the pics of my hair from the back.

I dont know if oiling everyday exacerbated it but ever since I cut my hair, I used to oil my hair every day. Maybe this helped but I'm not sure. Since 1 month I have used amla oil too. And recently I started using Shikakai and Amla hair mask 2-3 days a week.

Looks like normal to fast growth to me too! Especially given the growth of 9" in a year, that's 1.5x the average. If the ends feel a bit dry, try as Ylva said double conditioning or a different conditioner (maybe with more/less moisture/protein). I'd also trial different oils or a coney serum (works well for my hair, YMMV). It could also be that the ends just need a trim if it's been a long while.
