Hey guys. How are you all? Posting here after a long time 🙂

I ve been looking at herbal haircare and found a recipe on Shikakai and Amla powders hair mask.

Have you used it? If so how did affect your hair?

I haven’t used it as a mask but tried it as a hair wash. Applied to dry hair then showered and rinsed it off. Didn’t like the experience if I’m honest, maybe if I liked slapping mud on my hair. Smelt like soil. Left my hair very soft but dull.

I think I used shikakai as hair mask... Didn't like it. Used amla in my henna mix and my scalp absolutely loved it.

I use a cassia, brahmi, bringrahj and amla hairpack 1-2 times a month. It makes my hair strong, fluffy, shiny and soft. I have never used shikakai though.

Both are mixed into my henna, and I love the effect of them. But I’ve never used them individually.

Use with caution, because they both have a very low pH, which can be damaging for some people's hair. I'd dilute it and measure it with a pH strip -- the safest pH range for the hair between 4 and 6.

Amla increases curliness.

Shikakai has cleanser proprieties, but I actaully never tried.
I did amla mask several times, I like it. It gives me shine.
