View Full Version : Biggest Bun Competition

Brethil
September 27th, 2020, 10:06 AM
Ok, I don't want go to the trouble of choosing winners, but who among us has not secretly wished to make a bun as big as their head? So let's make the biggest bun we can, and share pictures.

Rules:
1. It must be a bun, not a beehive or a hedgehog or anything else.
2. This is "biggest bun" competition, not a "most hair" competition. As such, socks, donuts, switches, rats, parandas, braiding hair and anything else you can think of are encouraged.
3. Some attempt should be made to hide underpinnings. So try to cover up that hair donut! But if a little peeks through, oh well.

To start us off, here is mine, with a hair donut, a scrunchie, an ankle length paranda, and a ball of yarn. Depth: 4 inches, circumference: 19 1/4 inches

https://i.imgur.com/OilqsC3m.jpg https://i.imgur.com/ApDcJe1m.jpg

Not quite as big as my head, but still large. It's surprisingly not as uncomfortable as I thought it would be, though it is starting to get heavy and I think I will take it down now.

Thank you! It's amazing how much volume you can get if you are willing to stuff your hair with random fluffy objects.

Of course, anything can be used to add volume! It still has to be a bun though, (I don't think the silliest photo one were buns, if I'm remembering right) and also I think bottles count as underpinnings and so should be hidden.

Ooh this is fun! I won't win because I'm inexperienced with sock buns and parandas, but I love fluffy buns. After a few tries, largest first:

1. Giant loops (with a shirt within and 2 Quattro basics)

https://youtu.be/pP7JfVPkFz0

2. Chaos (made with a hair tie, srunchie, and 2 Quattro basics) (I actually like how wild this is... normal buns feel so trapped in comparison!)

https://youtu.be/CYU0qjz1XRY

3. Fluffy cinnabun (made with the same as #2) (this was actually pretty stable although very large)

AmaryllisRed Haha! I've actually never done a sock bun in my life, and I didn't have a skirt to easily roll like Seeshami, so I just took what I had and stuck it inside a bun. What could go wrong?

Yeah the third wasn't bad... If we ever want to rub our hair in people's faces (maybe literally...)

OK....I know I technically have not vote in this....since IMHO, if you can't do a bun much at all, much less a 'massive' bun, you shouldn't be voting here...lol

But, ignoring that...I like Ms EA's buns....#1) they are fairly current(like today!!) and she is Friend here

#2) Seeshami's video is 6 years old...and in it...she seems quite a nice and lovely person there....but the few posts I've ever seen from her seem to imply she is someone NOT to mess with...lol so, her 'entry' is suspect in a fair court of law.

Any dissenting opinions should be addressed to my computer's recycle bin...ok????

A hedgehog is one of those fluffy 18th century hairstyles that involve curling your hair and teasing it into a solid mass. Here (https://blog.americanduchess.com/2012/07/v201-how-to-make-hedgehog-hairstyle.html) is a tutorial to give you an idea. It's not gentle on the hair, but it gives you a LOT of volume.

Thanks!
So with the leggings, keeping in mind they're like a girls size 6, I first put one leg inside the other. Then I scrunched the waist up and stuffed it inside the bottom of the leghole where your feet would normally come out. You end up with a donut.
Then I did it much like a regular sock bun.

And the second one I did... I'll let you guess what's in there. ;)

I am guessing that I am supposed to be upset at people stuffing fun in their hair? Sorry to disappoint but I am happy to not be the only doufus trying to figure out how to use clothing as a bun form.

Yes, I have a reputation for a reason but it was a really toxic time in my life, where I was surrounded by nothing but toxic people (Lhc including). That's one reason I don't come play here much anymore. It was a bad place in my opinion full of cliches that felt they needed to be terrible to people. I stood up for what I thought was right, now I just don't care if y'all are mean and snide to each other. And with this post I am going to guess not much has changed and bid you all great fun in your big buns but I am out of here and back to my peaceful hiatus where I belong.

Oh dear... Seeshami,

I apologize profusely if I said something to offend. Not sure which part of my post you were commenting on, but if it was the first part about not having a bun,etc.... I was simply referring to myself.

And rereading your post....I think I see the error of my ways. especially since you don't know me from Adam, and I am commenting on your personality,etc... I was simply meaning that in some older threads, you always seemed to me to be one of those warrior princess's in a belly dancer persona... and by that I mean you are not afraid to stand up for yourself, not going to be what someone 'expects' you to be, and possibly doesn't care if the poor fool that comments(urmmm...kindof like me now that I think of it....guilty as charged) doesn't have a clue.

For that I am truly sorry.

I don't know you and I should not have commented on what I did/do not know about.

Can we go back to our normal programming now...while I slink out and have a thought about what I said???

O.R.
