Not to be confused with the Hyptho Swirl Bun (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=135294).

Ahhhhh Sarahlabyrinth how???
I tried this one before and failed:
https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=39011&d=1573329682

and my reasoning was that my hair is too long, but obviously that isn't the case if you can pull it off so beautifully!

I do it the same way she does in the video (I learned how to do it by watching her) and the excess hair I just wind around the outside of the bun afterwards and tuck the ends under.

I have a video:

Thank you! That's perfect!
I was sure the ends would need wrapped and tucked at some point, but I wasn't sure when.

This bun always looks like a jumbled mess when I try it instead of beautifully chaotic like Sarah's. It's super tight though, and I do love a tight, one stick bun. Maybe I just need to practice a bit more.

I thought that this one wouldn't work for my baby fine hair, but it did! In fact, it looks pretty darn fancy and feels quite secure. Hooray!

I got it!

https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=42482&d=1599088781

This is an unbraided bun on freshly washed hair! That almost never happens! Even with my trusty quattro, buns usually slip down during the day and I have to redo them. This is rock solid! And pretty!
I need to practice so I can do it without the video.

Daisy rei, that's super pretty!

Amaryllis, that's such a pretty bun on your hair. Wear it for a few days and you'll be making them with your eyses shut. I also find that it is one of the most secure buns for me. I love the way they look so fancy but are so simple to make. :)

Oh goody a bun to try! :knit:

I have never done this one before, but want to put it HIGHER on my head I think. Action shots to come...

Oh god. Okay. I am going to have to work on this before I do any action shots of it. Guess I know what I am wearing the rest of this month.

I just tried this with my braid. It held when I let go but was uncomfortably tight and I couldn't get my ends to stay up without extra pins so I took it down. I will try again later. Everyone's are so pretty.

Thanks SL!

I was wondering if it would work with a braid, but I think it would be hard to spread the inside part out if it was braided.

I love this bun! I made one today and secured it with a single hair stick. It held like a rock. And it looks really fancy.

I expected my slick, fine hair to reject this style, but it actually worked. As eternally annoyingly always, a stick was useless -- but a 5-prong kept it in place several hours. The result didn't look good, but after some practice I expect it to be presentable.

Wooow, it is so beautiful and simple. I love your tutorials. They are transparent, understandable.
I think this will be my hairstyle for tomorrow. I'll see if it will be comfortable and how long it will last.

Thank you for teaching me something new <3.

I did the Hypno bun at 7am. At 1 p.m. it is still holding on, although it has slightly moved down. It survived the rain and the hoodie sweatshirt.

Carrie's hair: Thanks! Yours looks cool, too. I think the only difference is that you used a fork. I haven't figured out yet how to put a fork in, when I use one insted of a stick the bun gets too tight and starts to hurt.

September 7th, 2020, 04:18 PM
Ooh, maybe ... then I'll try with the stick. Thanks for the hint.
I was surprised that nothing hurt for so many hours with Hypno bun. I'm just learning hairstyles and recently had a terrible problem with the pain in the skin above my forehead. I read a lot about it on the forum and looked for a solution to it, so discovering this hairstyle is salvation :sun::disco:.

Ehhhh...kinda?

This was the best attempt of the few times I tried this morning. I'm wondering if I'm putting the stick in the wrong place, or if it doesn't look as epic because I don't have a ton of hair. Regardless, it's pretty and it holds really well.

Sarah thanks for the tutorial. Also, your bun looks amazing.

After a few times practicing, I got this to be stable and comfortable! Featuring a new Swap fork. Then I borrowed my sister's headband, and this is the most comfortable my head has been, maybe ever? I see now why Tatsu does this all the time.

OK so I tried this after hair was dry today. AS always the same problem with separating hair twists. It just looks all ratty
because the hair does not separate nicely. This will never be a go to bun, so no pic.

so I'm not sure if I did it "right" but double thing here

one, MY HAIR IS LONG ENOUGH TO DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS at least LOL
https://flic.kr/p/2jJcm1R

AND second, my Daughter(s) (two girls, both cut hair recently, but eldest had this fork) cut to a pixie, so today she handed me her furnivals buffalo fork with a "I plan to have this be a family heirloom... but you are the only one with long hair right now"

Ha ha, I realized yesterday that my Hypno bun was weird because I was making it wrong . This is what it is like when English is not your language and you don't read the subtitles in the video, you just rely on the picture . When doing the Hypno bun, when you need to pull the hair along the loop, I didn't grab the hair from the base, but the hair that hung after twisting the loop. Have I invented a new hairstyle by accident? xD

Iím new to this community and am so grateful to have found it! Iím thrilled to have bun options! I had NO idea there were so many ways to wrap a bun! I really like this one. Iím not successful with it 100% of the time yet but Iíve been wearing it almost every day to practice. I also like that it doesnít bend my hair in weird ways and itís comfortable.

Yes, it also took me a moment to figure out which hair to grab and how to vary the length of the loop.

At the moment she's rather overwhelmed with a new baby and teaching online classes this fall. I'll let you know if she feels up to it anytime soon though! She appreciates the kind compliment. The sticks were her first and only time making hair accessories, and she tinkered a long while to get them how she liked them.

I couldn't get this one to work at all... First, I think I'm doing something wrong. Second, I don't think my hair is long/thick enough to accomplish it plus it has a lot of slip. It also looks like a rat's nest when I split it which actually made me laugh when I looked at it. Sorry about the angle of the pic, my husband is taking his Sunday nap beside me on the couch and couldn't be bothered to sit up.

Ah, this challenge was just before my computer went hinky and I went offline while it was in the shop. Took the photos, but didn't get the chance to post them at the time.

I could never have figured out the directions for this one without Sarahlabyrinth's video! This is a very comfy bun and I've worn it a few times since. I do have problems with the tail coming loose, though, and have started securing it with a couple of U-pins. Pardon my characteristically incomprehensible photos.
