When I do wet trims, I use the Wet Brush on my finger-detangled hair saturated in conditioner to align my strands. However, which brands of brushes or wide-tooth combs are more gentle for wet curly hair that's stretched out and conditioned? I've read somewhere that seamless wide-tooth combs made from cellulose acetate are the most gentle option for combing in general, but I'm not sure if that also applies for wet hair.

In case you want to suggest a Tangle Teezer, I've heard mixed reviews because I read they could be a culprit for mid-shaft splits in natural hair, so that's a no for me.

I've heard good things about very smooth bone or wood! I personally use fine-tooth comb but lots of advice online seems to come down to wide-tooth. I hope someone provides more information as I'd be interested to know as well! :)

Do you mean with "bone" tools made of buffalo horns?

Oh, it's possible? I don't have one and we don't have buffalos here so I didn't look into the specifics!

I don't know any particular brands but I know curly hair specialists recommend those flexi detangler brushes for brushing out of the shower hair

I don't have curls by a long stretch of the imagination, but for my waves, I just love the wet brush and its dupes. A nice really flexible bristle that does not tangle up my hair one bit? Yes. I used to use a Tangle Teezer dupe for dry detangling pre-wash, and I have replaced that with a vented wet brush dupe (from our Aldi a couple weeks ago). It's awesome. It doesn't even pull at my scalp and the TT somehow always still did do that.

But that's my thing. :)

Something plastic would be good as well

I've heard of bone combs which are actually ... Oh, what were they? Bakelite, I think. Some have had issues with them being rough and having trouble getting an actual smooth one from the main seller whose company name escapes me right now.

Eternally in Amber does cellulose acetate, and I have a Mason Pearson which is also acetate, I think. Seam-free.

[Hercules Sägemann tend to leave saw marks between the teeth even if they are actually seamless, though my jumbo rake feels smooth to the touch in between teeth. I don't know how that would be for wet hair though (also probably too wide for any real detangling or aligning of strands).]

I've been using now for years wooden comb from The Body Shop and I'm really pleased with it. I comb my hair while wet. I have 2b/2c waves/ wurls.
