I've been reading up on hair follicle A&P and wanted to share a source I found on InTechOpen. (Disclaimer: I have no idea of the validity of this source, but the books/chapters are supposed to be peer-reviewed and edited before being published. Read at your own risk.) It's very detailed and in-depth, even going into what happens in utero, which was new info for me. Favorite (random, irrelevant) tidbit: there's apparently a morphogen molecule that someone named "sonic hedgehog" (SHH) which tells the hair germ to grow downward at some point. :rollin:That's awesome! (I had to fact-check that one, but it shows up in other articles from different sources.)

Anyway - Sections 3.4-3.6 and Section 4 were the most relevant and interesting for me. Here's the link: https://www.intechopen.com/books/hair-and-scalp-disorders/anatomy-and-physiology-of-hair
