I recently started doing some workout. How do you wear your hair during sport? I tried with braids but I find them uncomfortable.
Also, I'm thinking about washing my hair after every section (3 times a week) because I don't like the idea of sweating and don't wash ... but after the workout it still looks clean!
How do you deal with the monster ?

It would depend on what type of exercise for me. When I'm working out at home, I usually just do a nautilus bun with a fork. When I was able to go to karate, I'd do a braided bun held with spin pins or two braids wrapped around my head held with a couple pins and hair taping.

Usually a claw clip or a pineapple for me. A high bun secured with a spin pin is good too. It depends what I'm doing that day.

I wash my hair once a week or less despite training 5x per week and having a manual labour job. Quite often if i just let my hair air out after activity, or give it a quick blow dry on cool. It dries just fine and doesn't appear any dirtiest, I haven't noticed any issue with odor either for that matter. I think just do whats best for you, if it's not getting dirty after training, I don't see why you would need to wash it more.

I usually do one English braid a little up from the nape, kind of like Dianyla's English braid (this (https://i.pinimg.com/236x/a9/b0/cb/a9b0cb72c6408d5ba6f83eef7ff6b6de--beautiful-braids-gorgeous-hair.jpg) is a good example), to keep it off my neck. This works well for rolling and falling in karate, lying on a bench for lifting, etc. I have been known to hit myself in the eye with it a few times doing spinning kicks, though

I like a braided bun. I feel like it's more secure than a non braided bun. Braids hanging down get in my way and I don't like that either.

Honestly half the time I just leave it loose cause my preferred form of exercise is yoga, and a bun gets in the way of a lot of floor poses. Maybe a coronet braid?

You could always just rinse instead of a full wash.

When I go horseriding (used to), or fitness I wear my hair like this:

My (low) braid is folded then sectioned elastics (rings of pantyhose) to keep it secure together.
No hassle with pins slipping out etc.

After sports I do a scalpwash, not the length

eresh is this your full hair braided and then doubled up? Do you find damage from the securing? I may start trying this at soccer. My classic length braid, although on the thin side, is really starting to whip around. :) If I can figure out how to exercise without my hair getting in the way, I may maintain at FTL or even try to go a bit longer.

Yes it is, I folded it 1x I think, or 1x and 1x a little bit (the thin ends)
I don't think I had any damage, because I don't use regular elastics.
Only (wide) rings cut off pantyhose :)

eresh PERFECT. Thank you, I am so excited to try this. Long hair while exercising has been my biggest hair struggle.

Thank you all for the ideas. The struggles with braids are that I find them comfortable in position in which I lay down on the back, but in other exercises I'm warm very easily ad hair doesn't help :/ Maybe a very high kind of bun? The coronet braid sounds interesting too.

eresh I tried your thing and it really might work. I cut up some ld tights, secured a doubled back braid (1x+ends a bit more), then twisted it into a bun with an acrylic fork. I didn't want to use metal forks for contact spots, so this might work.

It's very stable, and I could make it even more so by wrapping some more fabric around the entire bun. It looks a bit strange, but if it lets me have super long hair in a stable bun during contact sports, I don't care!! Thank you!

I prefer a coronet braid or milk maid braids. I usually pin them, but the most comfortable thing is to tape them :)

I don't wash my hair after working out.

It depends what the exercise is. Most of my hairstyles are braids so I don’t use many hair toys; just scrunchies.
I can’t lie flat on my back to do yoga or other exercises with my hair in a big bun. ( thick hair )
My neck can’t lay flat and I can’t do the postures properly , plus I’m scared of breaking a stick or hair fork.

If I’m speed walking or slow jogging usually it’s a double braid but today it was an acrylic stick.

Aaaah cool elise.autumn!
I hope it works for you :)
I didn't bun it because I had to wear a riding helmet.
But it is a good idea for when I start my fitness mondays again!

I play tennis in a french pinless bun with an acrylic hair stick. I do put two bobby pins at the end of my braided bun to really secure it in place. This is the one style i've found that's comfortable and secure to run in what still being completely up and out of my face.

I usually braid my hair, encircle my head with the braid, and put a mop cap on. Looks really dumb, but keeps everything out of my eyes or anywhere else I don't want it (like hitting the floor).

For running, I do a single nautalis held with a fork. For strength training or anything where I might need to have the back of my head pressed against something, I do double high nautalis buns held with bunheads pins. These styles work at my current length and also worked when I was at mid-thigh.

I finally got out of the funk and started exercising again. Doing couch to 5K, tonight I finished week 2, day 1.

I put my hair in a Dutch braid which I then coiled into a braided bun. Secured with an acrylic stick. Took this picture after completing the run.
