..and only waited a week to actually post pictures :D

As some of you all may know, my hair journey has involved growing out both heat damage and color - permanent black dye. Out of boredom mostly, I finally decided to cut off the majority of the remaining damage.

Note! Most of my pictures are of my hair in braid waves, I avoid letting my hair do its own thing because I get knots that can only be cut out.

My full heat damage journey is documented here: https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/album.php?albumid=14165

Here are a couple highlights:

And here's the delta! - Complete with globs of conditioner, so hot.

All in all, I still have some little bits of damage remaining, that I will gradually get rid of with microtrims, but other than that I am satisfied.

I cut from almost BSL (stretched) to almost APL (stretched). That's about a year of growth.

The weirdest part is the front of my hair, it had the most damage and had to be cut the most. Now I have an awkward fringe, which I'll just ball up in a claw clip as I did for most of these pictures. It's going to drive me crazy sooner or later, but so far I've been surviving by pretending it doesn't exist.

Thanks for coming!

Awesome! Looks to me like you didn't even lose that much length. It's still quite long! :D

I was thinking to myself, first, when I saw this thread, nooo she didn't chop more off, surely.

Wonderful! I absolutely love it.
It's crazy how cutting off some hair like that can just liven everything up, it looks great.

The braid waves look a lot more consistent now! :) Overall, it looks lovely.
Am I seeing correctly that you have very very dark brown hair, without the dye?

Haha nooo, though I would be tempted to cut more I've learned a lot of lessons from cutting my hair too short. Promised I'd never go back shorter than APL as my hair becomes harder to manage the shorter it is!

It kinda just sits there haha, I haven't figured out my face shape and which styles go with it, so now it's just learning how to style the fringe in a way that works.

Thank you!

Aww shucks, thank you :o

Thanks! It looks/feels a lot fuller without those scraggly ends. I can't wait until it gets longer now! :D

Thanks! Yes I still deal with quite a bit of frizz but those weird straight pieces are gone for the most part.

And yes! To me it's a warm brown, but that could be based on contrast since I've been dying it jet black or blue black for the last 10 years

It's actually harder to detangle I think it's because I was 'spoiled' with those straight ends that wouldn't tangle as much. Now I have pretty blunt, kinky ends that want to wrap around each other. I'm sure once it grows out and my hair natural stops being so blunt it'll get better, but it sure is a pain I did not expect to encounter.

For sure, hair that curly deserves length!
It needs it, actually. :D

I'm sure you are super happy now the heat damage is gone! :D
