Hi! My doctor has just started me on beta blockers in an attempt to reduce my migraines, and hair loss was on the list of common side effects. Has anyone had experience with propranolol and was hair loss a serious effect? In all honesty if its stops my migraines then I'd rather lose my hair than have hair and migraines, but I'd rather go into it with the knowledge of what will happen than suddenly start seeing thinning out of the blue

I have in the past taken propranolol in an attempt to keep anxiety under control, eventually went on to take atenolol and carvedilol with less success, and back to propranolol. I used to take them on a schedule. My only side affect was weight gain with carvedilol. I now only take propranolol as needed.
Your milage may vary of course, but 3 different beta blockers did not cause any thinning of my hair.
I hope it works for your migraines! :)

I have taken beta blockers for migraines and I did not notice any hair loss. The biggest side effect I experienced was fatigue.
