I have been meaning to pick it up for awhile. It seems to have good reviews but I trust you all more than the rest of the internet. :)
How is it?

I think I'll stick to my giant tub of the Shea Moisture JBCO leave-in. ;)
I think this is a way overpriced product, TBH.

I've noticed recently that my hair doesn't respond well to coconut oil.
That's why I'm interested in this. A friend told me that Sally's has a knock off. The ingredients are the same so I would probably go the route. :)

My hair hates it, that's all I can say. Made it a dry, crunchy, tangly mess, I could get that for free.
Did shea moisture have a dupe? The purplely bottle? That one was better but still not great. Maybe it was a dupe of something else....

I used it many many years ago. I remember liking it okay, but it wasn't moisturizing enough for my hair, which at the time was very damaged from dye and using a flat iron daily ( shudder: )

hmmm.... EP your hair also doesn't like coconut right? What do you use for a leave in?

I'm not sure where my hair stands on coconut oil. Sometimes it's alright, but other times it's not. So, I just avoid it. I use Kinky Curly Knot Today (https://www.target.com/p/kinky-curly-knot-today-leave-in-detangler-8oz/-/A-13044269) which has awesome slip. I've used this leave-in off and on for years. I stray away occasionally, but always end up coming back to it. I'm currently on my fourth or fifth bottle.

Oh, that makes sense. I'm not sure why I didn't think about the fact that you would use something for curls. Now I feel silly. lol
Lately I have been brushing my waves out after I oil when my hair is still wet. I don;t know why... apparently I'm digging the straight thing right now.
ETA: i guess I have a similar thing with coconut oil because there is a detangler I m in love with that has coconut oil as the second ingredient... Maybe it's something else tht my hair dislikes.

I do think people with wavy hair can use it. It's meant to be a detangling conditioner. That said, it's not the cheapest thing and I worry that with your length and thickness, you'd go through a bottle very quickly.
Maybe it's the other things in combination with the coconut oil? That's interesting :hmm:

I dunno... maybe my hair just doesn't like straight coconut oil? The detangler I like is SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Extra Moisturizing Detangler (https://www.sheamoisture.com/coconut-and-hibiscus-kids-extra-moisturizing-detangler/764302905028.html). Coconut oil is the second ingredient after water... so idk what the deal is with my hair and the straight oil.
I wonder what would happen if I just used the detangler as a leaver in.

I have been wondering the same thing jane_marie. My hair does not like coconut oil but I have a bunch of products with a lot of coconut oil in it and my hair loves that. I guess coconut oil in it’s pure form mimics protein and I’m protein sensitive but it does not in its processed form?
On another note, I’ve recently started using Kiny Curly Knot Today as a leave in and I only need a pea sized amount. Your hair is thicker and slightly longer so I guess you’ll need more but in my experience less is more.

I use it sometimes as a leave-in/detangler and have always liked it. It is on the expensive size, but a bottle lasts me a long time. I'd say get the knock off version and try it. Most places will let you return product if you keep the receipt.

KCKT is technically a detangler and I use it as a leave-in with good results. So, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to try it with the Shea Moisture product, especially since it says it's moisturizing.

It is expensive but worth it in my opinion. As said above you can most likely return it.
