View Full Version : Too much volume

Normally i love volume, especially when it comes to Rock N Roll. But I'm having an issue lately...
My hair is about 12 inches long. After each shampoo and condition, when my hair dries, it has extreme volume. Some might call this frizz? Im not sure. A day or two later (without washing) my hair returns to normal (flat).
I've been using Bio silk hair therapy which is doing a pretty decent job, but I'm just wondering what everyone else uses to tame ?
Thank you. I'm a new member and I'm very grateful to be here.

Welcome to the forum.
I think volume with 12 inches of hair is kind of "normal". For plenty of people day 1 hair is never a good hair day.
For me that's different. I absolutely love freshly washed hair, but it doesn't stick up as much with the weight of it. ;)
Anyway, maybe slicking it down with some gel or a styler of some sort would help. 12 inches would need a small dollop, rubbed between the palms of your hands and smoothed into the hair. You would not need much product at all!

Welcome to LHC :)
That sounds like my hair, though I am fine/wispy....not medium as you have noted your hair type to be.
You could very well have more curl to your hair than you realize (unless you did actual typing) :hmm:
To be sure.....wash and condition, detangle then air dry with no manipulation; when dry check the Typing Guide (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=116252).
And it could be all new growth that is lifting/curling....I get that from my crown to the hemline.
Biosilk is amazing; I love it, and have the whole line!
I have more length to work with, so what I do is apply a pea size amount of the 17 Miracle Conditioner, smooth it over my hair and ends and then style it (bun etc); just an hour settles my hair.
Crown wispiness is blended in with a mixed bristle BBB brush.
It will take some experimenting....probably more growth....and ultimately just ignoring it at times ;)
Hope that helps some ~ enjoy the forum and happy growing :cheer:
