Comb consternation

I've read several threads about combs but I'm looking for something specific.

I currently own this comb from Hercules Sägemann https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hercules-C12-Handle-Styler-Large-Carbon/dp/B016IY0592/ref=sr_1_10?keywords=Sagemann+comb&qid=1578363065&sr=8-10 (I paid less than half the current price, thank goodness!) and love the shape of the teeth - however it is not seamless, and I would ideally prefer wider spacing than 1/4". There are a couple of supposedly seamless options available with similar-looking teeth, but recent experiences with the brand don't seem to bode too well for anything from them truly being completely smooth.

So far the ideal comb seems to be either the classic detangler (https://www.hairsense.com/product/classic-handle-rake-detangler-bone-comb-206/) or the wide spaced detangler (https://www.hairsense.com/product/wide-spaced-detangler-bone-comb-215/) from Hairsense, however postage costs the same or more than a comb. Does anyone have any recent experience with Hairsense? One experience I read from 2016 was that every comb needed thorough sanding to be truly smooth, and 1) I don't have the energy to do that, and 2) I refuse to spend more money on a comb that still isn't smooth. I'm also not entirely convinced about the actual tooth width on the wider one, but I think I might prefer the spacing on that one - I don't know :headache:

My search has also taken me into the realms of animal grooming, as I've even started looking at metal combs such as this one (https://www.groomers-online.com/professional-c1/grooming-c27/featherlight-professional-comb-silver-28cm-p10192) with 9mm spaced teeth according to their customer service, who also assured me it's all perfectly smooth. I can't quite see straight on my ruler to work out what 9mm is in inches; also no handle, but I'm beginning to think I may not find anything 100% perfect anyway.

All the wooden combs I see have wider actual teeth, which I think were probably my main problem with my own wooden WT comb, or finer teeth with finer spacing. Madora (expensive), Eternally in Amber, Swissco (expensive) and Mason Pearson appear to all have thicker teeth than I'm looking for as well - however if there were something with slightly wider teeth but with the spacing I want, I'd be very willing to consider it..

The one other thing that caught my eye was Goody Ouchless detangling comb, nice and cheap, but does anyone know if it's smooth? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Goody-Ouchless-Gentle-Styling-Detangling/dp/B003PYUMLU I cannot tell from the photo at all.

Any other recommendations - especially from UK or Europe - very welcome! I'm slightly at my wits' end here :justy:

Maybe if you're not finding what you want in hair combs, maybe try looking at side combs, or back scratchers, or Afro hair picks? I'm intrigued by stone combs, too, like jade. Some of the following don't have teeth as far apart as you'd like, and some might not be made of my favorite materials; but maybe it's a list that'll get you thinking of alternative search words...

I have the bone "volume" comb (which is like the Madora model) from Hairsense. I have addressed this before, I think, in a thread (about the Sägemann comb) that it is a perfect comb. I never needed to sand it, it's got no rough edges, and I really don't look past anything. Also, my Sägemann combs are perfect.

But I have read that some people (like Igor back in the day) had issues with their Hairsense combs, bad ones actually (the pictures are gone though):

The 19 Big teeth comb looks good - only there doesn't seem to be a way to find out if it is seamless. An excellent price, too. I use a Madora Bone wide tooth detangling comb, and love it.

I should probably say I already own two *perfectly smooth* wooden combs, one wide-toothed and one fine-toothed. The fine-toothed has its uses and the wide-toothed is what I was using for everyday detangling - but that was before realising it was likely the width/shape of the actual teeth is the reason it wasn't quite plain sailing for detangling, so I wanted something with slimmer teeth. Then thinking about keeping clumps fairly intact is what led me to wanting wide spacing too.

The cellulose acetate is a route I'd kind of forgotten about - does anyone know the spacing of Eternally in Amber's scalloped wide-tooth comb (https://www.eternallyinambershop.com/product/pink-green-granite-scallop-wide-tooth-comb/7?cp=true&sa=true&sbp=false&q=false)? If not I can ask them, of course, but just wondered if anyone had one to hand.

After searching the forum for Hairsense it seems they're still unreliable and not great for customer service; considering the expense of postage (and that I've recently had a flexi get lost in international post) I think buying from them is unfortunately just too great a risk for me.

Yes it does, but longhairedjewels has a couple in stock :) a shame I didn't think about asking and maybe going for one when they were in the EIA sale though; they had some other colours that were much more 'me'!

Just to weigh in, I bought a Detangler Comb (#206s) from Hairsense a few months ago. I use it to comb out in the shower and it's just fine, exactly as advertised except that it's black, not that reddish-brown. I like it. I had no problem with customer service. But I can see why you wouldn't want to pay that much to ship to the U.K.

I would never use a metal comb - metal anything cuts right through my hair, it doesn't matter what it is, barrettes, flexis, anything. But I think that's unusual. I hope you find one you like!

I have one EIA comb, and it is so "flimsy". I'm sorry, I can't find another word to describe it. It almost gives under the detangling process, and sort of bends a bit. That was just the last straw for me.

I detangle wet, and I haven’t noticed the flimsiness Lapushka experienced. It’s not like my wooden wide tooth sandalwood comb, but I’ve never been concerned about it breaking or bending.

ETA: sorry, the measurement is in inches, not centimeters. I tried to get a measuring tool but am not on the metric system.:/
