No trim challenges. You go for "so" long, usually 6 months or a year, without trimming. Okay, that seems self-evident.

But what about line-ups or edging?

Or let's take it to an extreme, maybe a side-shave. That's definitely not a trim, particularly if the remaining hair is untouched and untrimmed for the duration of the challenge.

The idea popped into my head, then I got thinking, and thinking always drags me down the proverbial rabbit hole. LOL!

In the challenges one is allowed to maintain bangs and "accents", they donīt count as a trim :flower:

I think everything that is "maintaining" doesn't count, like fringes, undercuts and I suppose lineups and edges too. What usually count as failing the challenge is if you do those while in the challenge (as in you can maintain your edges but not cut them if you didn't have them beforehand) doesn't matter if you are still growing the rest of your hair. Anyways you can always make your own rules to adapt to your personal circumstances I guess :)

I agree with the above posters. Maintenance is allowed but not altering your hemline (just S&D), wherever that may be or how big or small of a section of your overall hair.

So this, for instance, would be a trim. But if I had it prior, I could maintain it so long as I don't shorten the long hairs.

That's correct.

I think it is covered in my first posts on every thread, cjk. Didn't I include something about shaves and bangs? You *can* maintain them, but not let them go for 6 months and then cut them back in, that would be considered a deal breaker and a "trim". If that makes sense.

Bangs, yes. The rest was unclear. And thanks!
