Often when browsing old threads on LHC, embedded images in posts won't show up. This is because they link to old HTTP versions of image hosting sites like Photobucket. I've made a browser extension that fixes this automatically while you're browsing:
Google Chrome version:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/lhc-http-image-fixer/jekonpekdcgppcedpigaofmgigjeknle
Firefox version:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/lhc-http-image-fixer/
Just click "Add to Chrome/Firefox" and the little icon will appear next to your address bar. The next time you refresh or visit an LHC thread with embedded images, they should show up inline.
Other solutions
1. Photobucket image fixer extension
You could also solve this for yourself by finding a "photobucket embedded image fix" extension on your browser's extension store.
The main difference between these extensions and mine is that mine only has permission to change image URLs on longhaircommunity.com - it cannot interact with any other websites. My extension should also work for image sites other than Photobucket. As always, it's up to you which browser extensions you trust.
2. Quote workaround
As documented in Spikey's excellent post (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=151099&p=3730522&viewfull=1#post3730522) (and elsewhere), you can view individual images by quoting a post, extracting the image URL, and changing "http" to "https". This will work for you if you don't need to see all the images inline, just individual ones you're curious about.
