I have been getting info from this forum for many years. The biggest issue I have had with my hair is tangles, my whole freaking life. I tried a few suggestions like deep oil conditioning, vinegar rinses, avoiding certain ingredients like silicones (which I found out severely dry out my hair and make it brittle!!), using a silk bonnet when sleeping, but nothing REALLY solved the tangle problem. Wearing my hair down was a nuisance, even though my hair isn't that long (like it's long, but still I want to be able to enjoy it down!!!). I often have unhealthy ends that no amount of S&D could repair because I'm always fighting with knots. A few days ago I found an old post from August 2017 where a bunch of people recommended that she try a chelating shampoo to get the hard water build up out of her hair to help with the tangles. I wrestled for the idea for a few days cause I didn't want to buy a new shampoo when I had a perfectly good one, but I caved and got some Kenra clarifying - and OH. MY. GOODNESS. My hair, I swear, has never been this tangle-free. I slept with it down (in bonnet), kept it down all day long, did yoga with my hair down, ran my fingers through it, and not a single tangle. It's been 2 days. No sitting around, going to war with my knots and a hairbrush. It's amazing!!!

So I just wanted to post a big THANK YOU to everyone who contributes to this forum. I'm not sure if the people who contributed to the hard water and chelating shampoo discussion are still active members, but regardless, I want to thank everyone who gives their feedback on here. Every little bit helps!!

Oh that's great that you found your answers :D The LHC is such a wealth of information, I feel like I can get lost in here for hours.

Hard water is a b****. I have that shampoo and it's quite good. Nothing like using once in a while to reset things.

Yep, especially if you wash with a sulfate-free or sulfate-milder shampoo, clarifying or chelating can do *wonders* for you. Do it at least once a month! Keep this up, because you will eventually run into the issue again.

I'd been having tangles for the last few weeks as well, but that usually means my hair is getting too long for my styling methods to work, and that I need to cut a bit off, which I did, and boy did it help!

Ha! We all got fooled, it's an old thread! Still, it could be useful for some who have just joined us.

Happy to year that you found a solution! :) I also have hard water and use a blend from NightBlooming to fight it :)

The post that I read was from August 2017, but I just found it a few days ago and posted this this week! :)

Wow, that's awesome! I may want to look into that myself sometime. Knots and tangles have always been my default "hair type!"

I'm sorry if I missed it, but have you looked into water softeners for your shower? I use one, and it must help me tons! I highly recommend.

But it probably has the same effect as the shampoo you use. Congrats!

The amount of slightly ancient pearls of wisdom I find in this forum, it's so amazing!
I've never tried chelating shampoo before. Water here is from the tank and I think it must be soft (bubbles a little when shaken in a container). Totally going to deep dive on chelating now.
