I like the Aussie 3 minute miracle moist conditioner, but I'm having a hard time finding a good protein-free conditioner that penetrates low porosity hair well. Any experiences/suggestions? Thank you.

I think that Noughty Wave Hello conditioner is protein free. I use it with a heat cap and add oil and aloe vera, to make it more like a deep conditioner.

There’s a good article on Science-y Hair Blog about how to condition low porosity hair

I hope it's okey me to tag along. My hair is also low porosity and my ends dry easily. Can you recommend something organic/natural hair mask or deep conditioner for me? :)

Have you tried heat while deep conditioning? I know that's the most important part when it comes to conditioning low porosity hair, you need to "open" the cuticle to let moisture get in. If you don't have a heat cap you can try the cheap option, just a warm winter hat over your shower cap!

I always put my showerhead (I wash bent over) on a hotter setting when conditioning, so I run it over my lengths hotter, then apply conditioner, let it sit 2 minutes, then wash it out on the hotter setting. It helps IMO.

There's a store on Etsy that I love. NaturelleGrow. I have fine hair that doesn't easily absorb moisture, but is easily weighed down and doesn't seem to like oil or protein. I've tried a few of NaturelleGrow's conditioners and loved them. They'll make you custom ones, too, if you want to combine or leave out ingredients.

Try Queen Helene Cholesterol Hair Conditioning Cream.

This contains protein I think - hydrolyzed collagen? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Second on Garnier Hair Treats - they are life. I prefer banana.

Not according to the websites I've seen (I investigated it initially back when I was looking for protein, and just checked again e.g. here (https://www.harmondiscount.com/079896653256-Queen-Helene-Cholesterol-Hair-Conditioning-Cream-15-oz/p/079896653256)). Different variations may have a different formula of course, but this is the specific/original one suggested.

I looked for the Mielle Organics one at my local Target... they had everything from that company in stock *besides* the protein-free deep conditioner. I'll have to order it online when I can.

I ended up purchasing the Garnier Whole Foods Legendary Olive conditioner (based on an old LHC thread listing protein-free deep conditioners here: https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/archive/index.php/t-141266.html)

The Legendary Olive has been wonderful so far, and I'll eventually try some of the other suggestions in this thread as well.
