Today I was in Target, and as I walked by the shampoo/body section, I felt the usual pull to check out the products and see if there was anything that seemed like I "had to have it". First the shampoos, then I realized, "nah, I love my CV shampoo bar, I don't need shampoo". Conditioner? "nope, I love my coconut oil". Hmm. Then all the magic facial lotions...don't need anything there either, love that coconut oil. Same with the body lotions. I even passed the Burt's Bees section without a second glance. Oh, maybe I can find a new hair styling product? No, I really like aloe vera gel better than anything else. Deodorant? Nope, I've started making my own with coconut oil and baking soda, as I learned here on LHC. Now I'm desperate to buy something! Cat food? Nope! I'm now making my own because of a suggestion here on LHC. I didn't even visit the sock section because I found better ones online through LHC. I left with only my prescription ($4.99). Today, LHC saved me a ton of money, thanks LHC!!:D

ROFL, it was expensive at first, trying new things and getting stuff...... but now, because of LHC I'm a hair cheapskate, with good hair!

Impressive!
I'm at the stage of trying to make the change from the supermarket products to healthier natural ingredients. Ironically I can't work out if it will be 'cost effective' for me to try making my own shampoo/conditioner (which I hope to be my next hair venture).

I feel the exact same way when i go to any store's health and beauty section.

Some times i go with my friends to these stores because they want to buy shampoo, conditioner and hair repair garbage. They spend tons of money on all these products and i tell them to try natural shampoo, oil and AVC and they look at me funny. They think i am weird for using ACV but deep inside i laugh at them (for thinking that i am weird) for spending money on products that are only going to ruin their hair.....

Yes please share socks link :)

That is awesome. I know from experience that leaving Target spending only $5 is no simple feat! I am starting to feel the same way with the beauty products sections of stores and it is so much more gratifying to consider buying something and have good reasons not to, than to buy it. Or rather, it is wonderful to know what those simple and good miracle products are, and to not be taken in by the ads and bells and whistles. I thank LHC for this too.

I know exactly how you feel.

I have not gone all natural and do-it-yourself but I used to check out hair products for a new "magic" solution.

Then I found catnip on LHC. I modified its use to suit me.

I do still use shampoo but just that and catnip on my hair. I also use catnip on my skin, so it replaces the need for moisturizer and hand cream.

Gotta love these boards!

There ya go. :twisted:Sock Dreams is the site! Love those thigh highs! But Speedbump is right, they won't 'save' you any money, except in the sense that you'll be so satisfied with the ones you buy, you won't need anything else.
