Hi everyone
I’m pretty clueless when it comes to colours etc, so thought I’d throw this out there....
My natural hair colour is light ash brown (I think). I have henna growing out that I don’t think suited me - actually it’s henndigo I did once.
My skin tone? No clue. I’ve been told it’s neutral, but make up consultants always try to go warm and to me I look orange, if I wear no make up in some light I look like I belong on the simpsons (think passport photo here!). Had a colour analysis done - they said grow out henna because it doesn’t suit me, I should aim for bright cool colours in wardrobe etc..
So I can’t use chemical dye anymore - allergic :( so was thinking of a 2 step henndigo? Grasping at straws here but not sure if that will suit me either plus I don’t know if it will highlight my thinning hair at the front (contrast with my scalp). Or should I just leave it and go grey gracefully? Just look washed out and feel drab all the time. Anyway sorry for rambling, have attached pics so you can see natural hair colour and henna growing out and my skin tone (if it works).

Thanks for your thoughts 💐

Why don't you - first of all - let your natural hair grow out. It is sooo easy not to have to mess with hair dye anymore. And it's nice to see your own color for a couple years before you inevitably turn gray.
I think it is an ashy blonette. VERY PRETTY color! I think with that hair color, you suit both cool & warm tones and the world = your oyster! Girl, go for the colors you like! And don't mind any of that color business. That's what I think & would do. ;)

If coloring your hair makes you feel better, then by all means do it. If not, then don't. There's no right or wrong answer on this, it's all personal preference.
Regarding your tone- your neck looks like a neutral leaning warm in the pic. But your foundation is too dark, and too pink for your neck. But this is based on assuming the color in your pic is correct, and my monitor is showing it correctly.

Hi nycelle, I’m not wearing any foundation, or any make up at all in that pic. Have given up trying to find the right shade! Lol

Wow thanks lapushka :) I did think I’d try and let my natural colour grow out but with more sparklies coming through it looks even more steely in colour, which looks a bit odd to me like extra ash lol

Well that's interesting!! Odd that the tone is so different. Do you use sunscreen on your face? My face is also redder than my neck, but I have Rosacea.

I use sunscreen on face and neck and anywhere else that might get exposed - I’m really not a sun bunny! Maybe I’m just an anomaly lol

I believe you have warm pink undertones, which might be why you’ve had trouble figuring it out. The undertone system basically says that pink=cool and yellow=warm, but that leaves out a bunch of people, and also makes no sense in terms of color theory, because pink and yellow are in fact both warm colors.
However, both of them can be mixed with small amounts of blue to make cooler colors. There are bluish pinks, such as fuchsia, and bluish yellows, green-yellows, chartreuse, etc. And there are very, very warm versions of these colors, ones that lean towards orange, such as peach and maize. This is the major problem with the undertone system, it is just too simplistic and considers pink a universally cool undertone, and yellow a universally warm undertone, creating confusion for warm pinks and cool yellows. This inaccuracy is also the reason why Mac’s undertone system is inverted - they call pink warm and yellow cool. It can work both ways, so sometimes people flip them.
Olive-toned people, as cool yellows, often have a lot of trouble figuring out their undertones and how to fit in to undertone systems for this reason as well.

Yes I have that as well. I'm a darker ash (obviously LOL), and I kind of like the whites coming through (I'm not going gray, just white). I'm about 3% gray but you could never tell by looking at me with my hair down (see signature). When it's in an updo in front, yes there it shows. :D
But like nycelle already mentioned, dyeing the hair is a very personal choice, and one you have to make yourself. I just wanted to mention my experience with being dye-free; it is so freeing not to have to have a schedule for glopping on dye, every single month. Ugh. I remember those times vividly!

I think your natural color is really pretty, quite far from drab. I'd vote to let it grow back.

Just do whatever makes you happy with your hair! I wouldn't listen to other people's opinion. As long as you like it and feel confident that's all that matters.

Seconded. I feel the whole "correct-hair-and-wardrobe-colors-for-your-skintone" bussiness is a bit of a sham. Your skin and hair look totally different in the hundreds of different lightings you're in each day. Aside from some really general stuff, like yellow colors looking good/popping on people with darker skin, I think individuals vary too much to say that only a certain palette suits ALL x shade skin with y shade undertones. Either way it's up to you!

Go to your closet, or if you need to, go to a store. Stand in front of one of those mirrors and start holding up different color clothing next to your face.
Some of them will look nicer than others.
There is no definitive right answer, though usually a few will be obviously wrong.
I could never wear black until I developed gray hair. My skin tone shifted, slightly, and it's now very flattering whereas I used to look like a blond vampire.
