View Full Version : Photos of me as a child longhair & various other old hair photos

Since I recently made the decision to grow out my virgin hair, I went and dug out some childhood photos of me in an attempt to find some of my former long hair. And sure enough, I did find two! So I guess they are the only proper "hair pics" of this post, but I decided to include a few other nice ones, too. At least they show my natural colour, which I don't think has changed much at all since those photos, so I suppose I can expect to become some sort of a golden blonde over the next few years. :) There's just something about photos like these that you almost never see in today's digital photographs. It's almost as if these capture the feeling and atmosphere a lot better.

Here you see my mother's absolute opposite of a hair style. She has gone even shorter since, these days she has a buzzcut in her virgin colour and she's graying very nicely just above her temples. Too bad she refuses to grow it out, I would love to see how it would look a bit longer! :)

That's my big sister and I in the photo above.

The following two photos really capture the spirit of my childhood summers, I think. That's the hairstyle I sported for a good number of years to come as well.

Such sweet pics :) thanks for sharing!

Your hair was such a pretty color and texture; interesting how it lightened up over time, and even more interesting to see how it grows out at this stage in your life.

Wishing you a happy 'virgin hair growing journey' :cheer: I can't wait to see how it grows out on you

I love the old photos. You're right that photos like these capture a little something extra missing from digital cell phone/camera pics nowadays. It will be interesting to see if your natural hair color has changed since being a child. I think mine may have gotta slightly darker, but lightens up in the sun anyways. I love the picture in front of the cabin, I have many similar summer cabin memories(and winter, and fall ) Very nice pictures, thanks for sharing with us :)

Lovely memories, Ylva! I would love to share my pictures, but I can't be bothered to dig them out and scan them. LOL. It is a lot to ask and I'm not putting them out there for the internet to see (mane forum is so public).

Thank you! :) Of course I'm not asking anyone to share their photos. I just thought to share these few, as censored versions.

Seeing someone do something usually is a nice invite to participate. :D I wish I could share them, because I had classic as a child and there is this one picture that has me sitting at my dad's desk at his work when he took me to work one day during the holiday (2 months off during the summer). He was supposed to "do" my hair, and my mom told him how, but he just told me to brush it (I had classic at the time) and he just didn't bother. LOL! That's dads for you. ;) :p

Haha  Maybe it was for the best in the end that he didn't get around to it. :D

LOL! It's a very rare dad that can deal with their daughters long hair :)

Yes I got a nice picture out of it of my hair, that was otherwise always in pigtails in pictures. :D

Lovely pix, Ylva! You were a cute kid and your hair has quite a vibrant shine in them :)

Haha! My dad wouldn’t touch my hair either. I can’t say I blame him—he’s got very short, fine, straivy hair, uses a fine tooth comb, never had a tangle in his life, and mine was almost completely type 4 as a kid. Not that my mom (type 1 b/c) had any idea how to deal with my hair  (I’m adopted if you haven’t guessed.)

That must have been a challenge in and of itself, dealing with your hair. I can imagine! But I hope it's something adopted kids these days don't have to go through with the CG method and all the info that's out there on curly hair right now. Let's hope! :)
