Hi everyone :)
Is it possible for someone's hair to be extremely prone to sun bleaching? As I'm very pale, I spend almost no time in the sun, mainly just when walking to and from the bus.
However, my ends are always practically yellow, no matter if I trim often (My hair is dark blonde). I thought about a year ago that it was just my left over dye, but it's been a long time, I'm sure I can't possibly have any dyed hair left because of the trims. Also I practically never blow dry nowadays, nor do I heat style.
My hair feels pretty soft and healthy in general, but on the last couple cms these yellow ends look finer and wonkier on close inspection.
Do you think it's sun damage? Should I upload a picture?

My hair gets sunstreaks really easily, they turn bright blonde... In a nutshell, yes, it's damaging, but I love them and never worry about it too much... Some people pay lots of money to have natural looking highlights! ;)

But yellow ends sound like it's not sun damage if you are already blonde. Did you use any bleach (or activator) when you dyed your hair?

Oh wow, -Fern, your bun is so pretty - and big! :crush:
I have hair that seems to be super sensitive to sun bleaching. It grows out of my head dark and ashy but the ends are much lighter. Maybe the porosity has something to do with that? Anyway, I get a lot of streaks in the summer, especially around my face and nape hair, but they aren’t coarser or different in texture at all.
Do you think maybe your ends are dried out? What about mechanical damage? Old heat damage?
A picture would be helpful!

Fern our hair colours are very similar. I get my auburn shade from the sun too. Love it.
Strawonaberry, I wonder if your yellow ends are not that bad and you are just being too harsh on yourself.

It's normal. I think all hair colors experience sun bleaching if they are exposed to sun long enough. Dark hair gets reddish highlights or lighten into lighter brown. Blondes can have it more extreme though. If it bothers you you can try protecting your hair from sun by wearing it up and hiding your ends, or try a sun protection spray for hair.
My hair is prone to sun bleaching too. My roots are always darker than ends but after last summer I noticed that my roots survived darker because I wore a hat regularly :) I have some old highlights on my ends so it's more difficult to say if I managed to protect them better too.

It is quite normal for virgin hair to be a tad lighter at the ends than on the top/roots, in some that difference is quite noticeable too. That is how you can usually tell whether the hair on someone's head is virgin or dyed. With dyed hair, it's like one color.
