Hair Pictures from my Author Photoshoot!

As a couple of you know, my first novel is coming out this September, so this last weekend I went to visit my aunt and uncle (photographers) to have my author pictures taken.

I really loved how my hair turned out in them and wanted to share--my aunt and uncle were really on board with making sure it looked good in pictures.

They really are excellent photographers, I was really fortunate that they wanted to do these for me.

Awww you guys are so sweet! I'm really happy with the colors, too. My uncle did a great job shooting me so that my hair lit up and I look like I have every so slightly more color than my normal drowned-Scottish-corpse-pale look XD

My poor uncle, he hadn't shot hennaed hair since my wedding and normally sees me at Christmas when it's dark and wintery and indoors so (i.e. my hair looks way less vibrant), so when I stepped into the big sunlit window he went... "Uh.. I might have to adjust my lighting a bit, hold on." :lol:

This is one of those Big Life Goals for me, probably how some people feel about getting their PhD (I imagine you feel similar WendyClaire). It's something I've wanted since I was little and I've spent the last decade writing this series and then had to figure out how to go about putting it out there.

Having Real Author photos makes this seem really real :bigeyes:

Yes it’s so exciting! I never did pictures and yours are so beautiful. My book is in the romance/erotica genre and it’s specifically for women over 50. I never promoted it as I was going through a divorce at the same time. Being a writer it is a lifetime obsession and the character I created is always on my mind. It’s hard to explain but she only lives through my writing and new stories are always on my mind. Sorry to ramble. I wish you success and happiness!

I do! The initial go is going to be ebook, one standard, one that's a Patron's-only version that will also have the first chapter of the second book as bonus content and then printing in hardcover.

The larger plan is do to this for the entire series, and then do a paperback boxed set for a reprint.

You can do it! I've been writing this series for over 10 years and put a lot of thought into how I wanted to go about bringing it to publication. From my personal standpoint, I don't think you're going to regret writing so long before looking to publish :)

Thank you so much!! I'm really excited about the book and having an author photo that I was happy with was one of the things I was most nervous about.

My aunt and uncle really are amazing photographers. There's a big difference between someone with a good camera that can take a basic nice picture, and a photographer that really knows a lot about lighting, framing, etc.

I had literally just pulled out my spring stuff for thr 70 degree weekend and I love this thing...only own the white but Im going to get other colors...I wore it so much last summer!

Hahaha that's hilarious that it's the exact same shirt! :lol: One of the rules with photography is that you want your arms covered (because your eye goes to the greatest expanse of open skin and you want that to be your face) so I needed something to toss on over a cami. That shirt was the winner!
