View Full Version : Does anyone have ingredient list for Joico Chelating shampoo from 2012 or before?

I used the Joico K Pak chelating shampoo back in 2012 and it made my hair so soft and manageable. They have since discontinued the chelating shampoo and now only have a clarifying shampoo which does not help my hair at all. I have used other chelating shampoos but nothing has the same effect and I am wondering what ingredient in the original Joico chelating shampoo made my hair so soft. Hopefully someone here knows.

Sorry, I don't know about the original product, but I have this now, and I thought it's both clarifying and chelating, because it promises to remove mineral deposits, chlorine and styling build up.

I don't have a bottle, but I found 2 ingredients lists online (see below). I have a feeling it might be the first one that you are looking for, since it contains Thioctic Acid and Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, and they both can chelate.
Hydrolyzed protein content might also play a role in how hair felt afterwards...

Basically, if you don't have the old bottle, you can eliminate the new bottle on hand by comparing its list of ingredients to the 2 lists below ;)

1) (listed as of 2014): Water/Aqua/Eau, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamide MEA, Glycol Stearate, Cetyl Alcohol, Cocambopropyl Betaine, Stearic Acid, hydrolyzed Hair Keratin, Laurdimonium Hodroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Hair Keratin, Hydrolyzed Keratin PG-Propyl Methylsilanediol, Thioctic Acid, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Psidium Guajava Fruit Extract, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, Aleurites Moluccana Seed oil, Glycolipids, Hyaluronic Acid, Allantoin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Dimethicone PEG-7 Cocoate, Hydroxyethycellulose, Acrylates/Aminoacrylates/c10-30 Alkyl PEG-20 Itaconate Copolymer, Pentasodium Pentetate, Benzophenone-4, Glycerin, Hydrolyzed Wheat Starch, Citric Acid, Sodium Chloride, Aminomethyl Propanol, DMDM Hydantoin, Methychloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Fragrance/Parfum.

I tried the new one but it didn't have that much effect on my hair.

If you do find the list please do post it here. I know Meteor did find me a list but its from 2014 and I would like to confirm if that's the one I used in 2012. Thank you for your help.

^ Cool, thanks so much, littlestarface! So yeah, that photo matches the first list above then (the one with Thioctic Acid and Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate). I wonder if it can still be found online. :hmm: But there are lots of chelating products on the market nowadays.

No it cant sadly, I have tried since 2014 in vain. None of them match up to the old joico :boohoo: I've tried redken, paul mitchell, new joico, suave, vo5, garnier, pantene none of them even come close.

No way its not just you, the old stuff left my hair soft and bouncy. I got the best curls using it and I wouldn't have to chelate for a long time after using it. Now with these other ones I have to chelate so much and my hair is weighed down.
