As I sectioned my hair before braiding, I took one look in the mirror and started laughing. It's official, I'm turning into Cindy Lou Hoo!

This takes awkward to a whole new level.

I don’t think it’s awkward at all. This really made me smile! Look how happy you are with your progress and how nicely your hair is growing out!
Great job!

Darned short frizzies on the sides. The fact that they're coarse and gray doesn't help either.

Trying to figure out how to get them into a protective style so they can grow, and I'll keep trying till I figure something out. Suggestions are always welcome.

I like that look with the braids placed that way a lot, cjk:) is it one on top, with two underneath?

My bf has some coarse long ones behind ears too, like beard hairs.

I’ve got a ton of short wispies and usually wear a buff, hoping to baby them along until they can reach my bun. Will keep an eye here to see any other suggestions.

Hahaha! Welcome to the club, I do alllll sorts of weird sectioning buns while doing my hair. And btw, your hair and beard seem to grow fast, is that the case? Also, GREAT job at braiding!!

This is my new favorite all-time thread. I always knew if we all stayed here long enough simply everyone would come through the door - and now Cindy Lou Hoo is here we can rest easy!! (ETA: You do coquette-ish eyes better than me and that's just not fair - just sayin')

Seriously tho - I just love your hair. Wish I could help on the wispies - I have some too - I keep having sheds and what is growing back wants to stick out every direction possible - let me know if you figure it out!

Cool style

My hair is fine and wispy....but I use a BBB/mix brush to blend them in and either give a spritz of hairspray or dab of texture cream to hold.
If long enough I sometimes secure with bobby pins after giving the strands a twist on the end then tuck them into the style.

When they are short and cannot be tamed I do a softer half up style so they just blend in vs standing out against sleek sides;and I avoid mirrors

I think it looks great and eccentric. I like different ☺

How fun! And at least you are taking the time/effort to section and braid, lots of people don't even know how to do that.
