View Full Version : Cord Hair Ties/Invisibobbles

I have been trying to find very small invisibobble type hair ties for the ends of my braids. My taper is pretty significant so I do need small ones. I've mostly only been able to find ones that can also be used as a bracelet so fairly large ones.

Can someone point me towards a place where I can buy small ones? And has anyone tried the invisibobble nano?

I bought mine from Amazon...GOOMEE....but it seems they are no longer being sold there :hmm:
However doing a search showed they can be bought elsewhere

I had bought the 10 pack 2 years ago and they are still nice.

I found a similar kind on Amazon by KITSCH (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FP3686J/ref=sxts_kp_bs_tr_1_a_it?pf_rd_p=8778bc68-27e7-403f-8460-de48b6e788fb&pd_rd_wg=toiYK&pf_rd_r=TSGEE14X6EEH4CV1KDDS&pd_rd_i=B07FP3686J&pd_rd_w=aJPzP&pd_rd_r=007853e8-af68-4431-b9f0-cfbdc36f1d56&ie=UTF8&qid=1550036614&sr=1)

Good luck :cheer:

Would that size be good for braid ends?

I use Invisibobble Nano for my braids. Love them. Regular-sized Invisibobbles are really hard to tie on thin tapered braid tassels and they always end up looking quite ridiculous, so yeah, Nanos are the best :)

I bought some Invisibobble knock offs from a general merchandise store near me (EU). They were just 1 euro for a pack of 10 so I thought to give them a try. The plastic is quite a bit harder than the original Invisibobbles but they work for my braid ends. I would advice investing in the real things though.

I didn't even know they came in sizes? I am *so* behind.

You have to be careful with knock-offs, some of them aren't "rounded", like, the plastic wire itself isn't round and smooth, but flat with harsh edges, and I can't imagine such things not being damaging. I got one of those as a freebie for buying a pack of pads back in 2015, and it went straight into the trash can.

I use the Gomee....they are small and thin...very smooth/round.

Kitsch looks similar but I can't attest to it (maybe read reviews?).

I store my little ones in a small pharmacy pill bottle; it is a perfect fit for them, and they return to their original shape quickly.

I have read that others use hair dryer heat or hot water to reshape theirs but I never bothered with all that.

I got mine at Lidl (the big ones), and they have no edges and are great, so I guess I got lucky there.

I've bought my knock-offs at different stores in Sweden and all of them are as "kind to the hair" as the originals. I don't remember where I bought my small ones, but it probably wouldn't help anyway, since I'm in Sweden :p

That looks to be the size I need, then. Do you use them for twin braids as well as a single?

Are these (https://www.goomee.com/collections/goomee-original) the ones?

The Kitsch ones do seem to be quite small, so I might give those, and the Invisibobble Nanos a shot. If I lose them as easily as I lose regular hair ties, I might have to give Invisibobble a pass completely since they are a lot more expensive.

But, hopefully this means I do not have to worry about my ends being damaged :)

Yes that is them....I found them to be gentle on my wispy silver.

The others were more expensive so I gave the GOOMEES a shot and was happy with my choice; they had good reviews.

Good luck with whatever you purchase; let us know how they work for you

Will do! I might try out the Goomees depending on how likely I am to lose these xD

NO they are not; that is just an enlarged picture for sales purposes.

I have them....here is a comparison pic; small vs 2 different brands of large....my entire 10 pack is stored in a pill bottle.
They are very soft and thin but durable (mine are 2 years old and used daily) compared to the larger ones which are thick/stiff....and have broken after a short time :(

No.... they are https://www.lindoproducts.com/product/big-swirlydo-multi-color-12pc/
I bought them on amazon; it is the black one in the pic, and is better made than the white one in the pic (that set broke easily).
It seems to have a double coating...colored and clear top coat.
It is very sturdy; that one is a year old

An update:
I bought a set of 3 clear Invisibobble Nanos, a set of 8 Kitsch small ones (comparable in size to the nanos), and some bigger Kitsch ones.

The Nanos are the hardest to use as I have large fingers, but I am sure I will get there. The small Kitsch are easier, and of course the big ones are the easiest. I also promptly lost a nano xD I'll have to look for it later.

I slept with the small Kitsch ones, and it stayed on throughout the night! There were also no creases/crinkles/bends. Tonight I am planning on trying the Nanos.

There's certainly a bit of a learning curve for me with these. My hair ends up looking quite wonky when I wrap it around the second or third time but hey, it works so it's all good.

Thank you for the help, everyone https://i.imgur.com/YFyj7qQ.png

I'd love to see a pic of the nano. I've got the nano hair and am wondering if it would work for me. :p Is it comparible to a coin size?

Just to clarify, the Goomee Active are the smaller ones? I have baby-fine hair, and I need smaller ones for beaid ends. I am sorry to be so dense.

I personally don't like using this type of tie for braids...just ponytails; they seem too bulky for braids on fine hair.

For braids I use the tiny/kids no damage ties, occasionally the clear silicone, and the terry cloth type.

I just found the tiny cord ones in my local Lidl, they were for kids, clearly from the kids' line (lupilu) and I love them! Just one go-around and I can make a sleep ponytail.

I have been using the kids' ties for braids, too.

According to the Invisibobble website (https://www.invisibobble.com/faq/) you can return a stretched out invisibobble back to its original size by putting them out in the sun, in hot water, or on a towel on top of a heater and the heat will make the plastic contract.

I put a stretched knockoff and a stretched invisibobble in a cup of boiling water earlier and I think it helped a bit, so I boiled some more water and I'll see how a second round does. It's currently a'cookin'. If it doesn't work, I'll try leaving them on top of my radiator for a couple of days. Can't do the sun thing though, I doubt we'll see the sun until like March around here

Has anyone tried shrinking stretched out one back to their original size? Did it work??
