I just was looking back of my older hair pictures from last year and noticed that my ends were very thick compared to now. Is it normal to have your ends get a bit thinner as your hair is growing out? Any help would be very appreciated! :D

I think your ends look good. You went from APL to past waist! Great growth!

Pictures like these give me hope and keep me going :) Amazing progress and I think your ends look great. They are not even close to being as wispy as mine. I think you are thinking they are thin because they arent as blunt as in the first pic, but they still looking amazing and I am envious :)

Just to answer your question; yes, it's very normal that ends are thinner at longer lengths. Not all the hair will make it there.

Thank you Sparkles122, PixieNixie and Ylva for your comments! Just wanted to be sure that it was normal, I guess I didn't think about how not all of the hair goes down to the longest length! :o

Your ends look just fine. It also often depends when and how the picture was taken (there's a thread about this).

Ooh beautiful! I think the illusion of the ends being thinner is because the weight of the longer hair pulls it down and therefore more together, which is why people with thick hair stop having 'triangle head' at certain lengths :)

Sorry I haven't got anything to add about thinner ends but I just wanted to say your hair is looks amazing, It's grown so much! It gives me hope, as I'm currently stuck at mid back length and it just doesn't seem to be growing.

Completely normal and common imo, your ends still look very healthy and thick at the current length. Lovely head of hair! :)

It's normal, that's one thing. The second thing is, A LOT depends on when and how you take the picture, as other people already said. Your ends might be frizzy for some reason, or "glued" together into strands because of a product – such things may make them look thinner. Lighting matters. And background (the colour of your clothes).
I have pictures where my ends look like I have 10 frizzy hairs there. I also have pictures where they look full and not transparent/thinned out at all.

And one more important aspect: ends do thin out as our hair grows. Very, very, very few people have their ends as thick as the hair at the nape of the neck. But! When you trim your ends and your hair grows back to the previous length after the trim, ends tend to be thicker. More individual hairs grow to the very ends the second (and third and fourth...) time around. I suppose it's because when we trim, we "refresh" the ends that are stuck a few inches about the hemline and are split, thin, dry etc. and then crumble of break off instead of growing further down. When we trim these ends, they are healthy enough not to break off for a few more months and thy reach the hemline.
Again, this is not true for everyone, but over the years I've seen many, many people talk about it.

Thank you Rosy Blossom, Begemont, & Henrietta! 😊

Henrietta - I did apply a leave in conditioner right before the newest photo, I have a feeling that could be why my ends are stuck together. Thanks for the info! 😁

I did not even notice anything wrong with the ends (I think it is normal at that lenght to have a bit thinner ends). I think your hair looks very nice and so shiny!!

Looks good to me. I have found personally that I have to get the ends trimmed periodically if I want it to look real even, but your hemline looks plenty thick. Your hair must grow really fast, thats a ton of progress.

Thank you very much JackintheBox! I believe that I may do a very light trim soon just even everything out. 😁
