Hi! I joined in 2005. I have never been much of a steady poster and honestly I have kind of used the information here to help me on my journey. There is lots to read and much to be learned if you just give it a chance. I sure don’t like what seems to have happened with the posting system though and I don’t know when it happened. I used to be a member in good standing and somehow with updates and such that has changed. No longer can I send someone a message. No longer can I access my account.
Truly depressing and I have tried asking for assistance but I get no replies.
Sigh...

There was a major crash in 2012 and lots of data was lost. The email side of the system remains wonky/non-functional too. Before we assume you're being ignored, let's operate on the assumption that the messages might not even be getting through? :)
The reporting system on posts works, however, so if you're still waiting for help in another day or so (and no mods have popped into this thread), try reporting your own post and citing "difficulties getting account reopened with privileges" as your reason for the report. To report, just click the little triangular button with the ! mark in it at the bottom of the post.

You have 1 post right now. Do read the permission sticky in the newbie section, that should explain it. :flower:

It appears that I have been reduced to a barely member that can not send messages to anyone and cannot even make changes to my own profile even though I’ve been a member for 13 years. I remember the old system having issues but this new one is utterly ridiculous. Makes a person truly feel unwanted.

Speaking for myself, it's good to see old members coming back, and I hope you can have stick with us through the technical issues!
One of the mods could give the definitive answer (and I think it's on the permission sticky Lapushka refers to), but I'm guessing that when they brought everything over to the new system from the old one following the crash, they must have been able to get login ID's but none of people's profiles. I know a lot of threads and articles were lost, so probably the system simply has none of your user history either.
The things you mentioned, not being able to send private messages or edit your own profile, are because no one can do this until they reach a certain number of posts- I think it's 25 (although not all of the forums count- ie game threads).

Makes a person truly feel unwanted.
Please don't feel that way! It is only a matter of the crash reset your message count, so the server defaults to treating you as a new member with the new member restrictions.
A mod should be able to clear it up, or you can just make 25 regular quality posts on the main forum to expedite the process.
It is the holiday season, so please be patient. :)

I have a vague memory of spambot accounts being deleted en-mass 5-10 years ago. In the process, some inactive member accounts were accidentally deleted.
Yours is likely one of the accidentally deleted accounts. It was an honest mistake.
Welcome back!

Thanks for the votes of confidence. It’s good to see some familiar faces and I’m looking forward to actually being able to do things again. :-)

I joined July 2005, you joined Oct 2005. I don't remember anything being deleted. So... What happened to your account? :(

I’m not sure. I notified admin that something was amiss. I was told there were 2 different incidents that they did deletions and I’m betting that I was in one of them. I am not a Chatty Cathy and this having to put up more posts just to be able to function on the site is beyond stressful. I know I’ve tried to log in before and just flatly couldn’t because there were server errors...I was getting timeouts. It’s the same email address as it was when I registered. And it is the exact same user name and password from the beginning too. Most frustrating!

You'll get to 25 posts soon, and sometimes it's nice to participate. Welcome! :) Hope someone can help you out.

I also joined in 2005. I don't remember you but it was very long ago, and if you weren't very active that would do it. :)
Really, just hang in there for a while, it'll get straightened out eventually. Post in the MANE forum to make your posts count. :)

Hi! I’m kinda new here. I joined in August 2018. I remember the frustration of having to post 25 messages in the Mane Forum to get more access. Not knowing what I was doing and feeling kind of lost. But to be honest it went so fast and I have learned so much here. Welcome back! How long is your hair now? And what are your goals? For me... I’m an old pixie gal and now have curly hair to my shoulders. Never in my life! And I’ve always wanted to have long hair! With LHC I may just make it! Haha! Never too late for this almost 60 yo lady. 😉
Happy New Year!

Welcome from a newbie!
I've had that happen to me in other forums. It's very frustrating, but you'll get there again!
I'm happy to be sharing your hair journey with you 👋💕
