I went for a long-considered trim and layers today and it was a great experience! The stylist was very gentle with my hair, gave me the cut I wanted, and asked how I style it, instead of wanting to straighten it or just giving up lol.

Now I did come home and wash and style it myself, because there's no saving curls after being combed out for a cut. But she did absolutely nothing damaging or unasked for which is a rare event in a salon.

Now for the pics. It's a subtle change, but it's a fuller shape and not just a curtain of hair. The front is the biggest difference, but I don't have many recent before pics of the front. 🤔 But I now have some shoulder length pieces up front that I really like. Now I should be good to grow for a long time. 😁😁😁
Edited to add that it's not darker, it's all different lighting.

It looks so beautiful!! I love the way curls fall when they're layered. It looks like you made the right decision!

Thanks you guys. 😊 I had a blunt cut phase but I got that out of my system. 😄 It really doesn't do the best for my hair type.

Thank you everyone for the sweet remarks! I woke up with awesome second day hair, way better volume and definition than before these layers. I'm really happy with it. 👍

there's a huge difference between before and after pics. are those cuurls natural or curled? the after pics look like 3b while the before pic looks like 2a. thjis is why I decided to grow my hair to terminal. for me terminal is the true hair. (but that's of course just me.). hair texture and thickness also depends on the haircut, humidity, products... etc...
well what cxan I say :) enjoy your new hair experience :)

No curling, they are both styled the same way, same products scrunched in. It's because having shorter pieces lets the curls spring up tighter because they're not as weighed down. Which is exactly what I was hoping for and it is a big difference for sure!
