View Full Version : Layering Hair Masks?

Hey,
Question for y'all... Has anyone noticed significant improvement in either their hair strength or growth from layering hair masks? It's winter here now and I've noticed that for my skin, layering a water based serum and then an oil on top really helps with staying hydrated, and I was thinking about experimenting with doing the same with my hair since it's so fine and thin and dries out so easy. So far my plan was to wet my hair with cold herbal tea and then layer an oil based hair mask over it as my pre-poo. Has anyone done this before? If so, what were your results from it? I'd love to know!

I'm not sure if this answers your question at all, but what I've been doing for pre-poo lately is basically redoing my leave-in and then applying the pre-poo oil on top of that a bit later. I think it has helped a bit with keeping my very demanding ends hydrated.

I will sometimes use an oil pre-poo under a cone mask after I clarify (I haven't done that in a while though).

I've done it before - well, I would wet hair, apply a deep conditioner, and then heavily apply oil over it. So not necessarily the same, but a similar concept - then I would shampoo it out. I honestly didn't like this as much as deep conditioning regularly after shampooing, and then doing an oil rinse before conditioning a second time (to remove the excess oil). Here's the threads I learned that trick from:

The WC(RO)C is something Lapushka does, although we have totally different hair types it works wonders for my hair, especially now that it's winter.
