I did a few searches to try and find a thread like this to bump but couldn't find one, so decided to start this. I really enjoyed the Halloween themed thread (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=133770). So lets show off our holiday/winter pretties. Whether it is a small bright red bow you wear in your hair for the holidays, a simple stick, a small Christmas wreath you sometimes wear on your head like a crown, or an elaborate snowflake with Swarovski crystals please share them with us here.

I'll start with this 5" long icicle:
https://i.imgur.com/zXlQHga.jpg

It is actually one of those shatterproof ornaments. There were 14 in the package. It has a line running down the sides since it is molded so I'm working on smoothing it out, so no action shot yet.

Thank-you both, sorry for taking so long to reply here. I've been getting rather frustrated with this icicle. It is just a scratched up mess right now! Think I'm going to have to give up on it for now. Also, had another one in the works that isn't working out either. I'll get it eventually just maybe not this Christmas season.

Guess I can start posting some awkward LR selfies.

Self-made sticks from a couple years ago; wore them to go caroling today!

Languagenut I love those sticks! They're making me crave peppermint candy.

KameRose let us know how the smoothing works out, I've been wanting a LadyIdun icicle for a while but if modding an ornament works that could be quite intriguing!

languagenut those are such wonderfully simple sticks!

I think I am over complicating things and I should just go back to basics and get some higher grit sand paper and/or lower grit... apparently I am missing a step somewhere. I was trying to be careful and leave as much of the iridescent paint on there as I could but ended up just putting some rather gnarly gouges in there. Just read some previous threads on revitalizing and modding acrylic sticks, convinced me to do a complete sand down on the icicle. Will keep you posted on the progress.

On a side note I have seen some pretty glass icicle ornaments too. So if you are comfortable wearing glass those can be a good option too, and no need to worry about sanding and polishing since there are no mold lines!

i love winter and all things snowflake and i'm hoping to see more pictures here...i'll pony up a couple of my own in the meantime! :D

flexis. I also have a different poinsettia one somewhere in the house, and i have a couple others that aren't overtly wintry but were winter flexis of the month. So for now here's the most recent poinsettia, holly, and...uhhh...a spiderweb. Because Hele needs glasses and i thought that was a snowflake.

a Nightblooming stick and two snowflake Timberstones. Can't lie, i wore that Nightblooming stick a lot this summer. :sun:

two snowflake engraved Lady Iduns.

okay, trying to get the clear one to show better.

i made the mistake of going on Etsy and looking up "snowflake hair accessories". Now i need everything but will at the very least settle for some snowflake scrunchies!

Beautiful winter toys! I have that "winter" spider's web and I love it. But, I do tend to wear it more during Halloween.

Hele, that is a fabulous assortment of winter hair toys! I too have that spider web. I think we should go around regaling all the folks that will listen the story of the Christmas spiders!

Also, I need some snowflakes in my collection!!! However my bank account doesn't think so. I have this weird obsession with snowflakes.... hmm... :hmm: I did pick up some snowflake earrings a while ago, maybe that will be my next project.

1/4 inch dowels. Just sharpened, sanded, and painted. Painted them white, then used masking tape to do the red stripes, which turned out to be a little more tricky than I expected, but it works.

Well, it's lovely seeing all the wintry pretties, and I'd love to participate, but where I am in the bottom half of the world, Christmas and New Year holidays are celebrated during summer, which is beach weather. :p I'll have a hunt through my hairtoys and maybe share what's appropriate for here? Anything of the icy-winter kind is cooling, anyway (this is the time of year I love wearing my LI icicles, and silvery snowflakes the most).

Hahaha funny how you remember what hair toys i have better than I do! :D

Well i might post a pic of some updo with the tree one as well.

I have one more that kinda reminds of a snowflake, but idk....

Can't wait to see your action shots. ^^

I think I might put in my Jingle Bell sticks from Quattro. :D :inlove: They are a few years old, but I'll pull 'm out and see. If they're too "jingly" I might go for something else with a nice decoration.

Sounds like you need micro mesh cloth and acrylic polish.

Idea to use this with a clear stick completely ripped off from Sourgrl! I don't have an icecycle but the topper on this stick reminds me of St. Basil's Cathedral and I associate that building with snow and Christmas!

Those snowflake flexis look stunning. They look rather blah on the website so I had skipped it. You two have me regretting it. Going to have to order one! lunasea the topper on that stick reminds me of a blown glass ornament.

On that note I should start taking a few bad hair selfies. I'll never get better at it if I do not practice. So here are a couple:

I know it is a firework, but think I can get away with saying it is a snowflake!

Because Christmas and angels go together well.

and finally

With the white drops on it I can say it is snow :bluebiggr

Christmas tree flexi with WWC stick. The stick is red and green IRL but, for some reason, the red looks a little orange in this pic:

Lilla Rose xmas hairsticks, I already owned the red one and RAN to pick the tree one in the sale! So in love with this combo :)

I posted these yesterday and now I cannot find the post so will show again in this thread.
I found some Christmas erasers at the Dollar Tree

So I put them on some regular Lathe turned sticks

Here is another dollar tree find adaptation. I have done this for the last 4 years.
https://live.staticflickr.com/4861/32550657808_de02db1df6.jpg
This was a package of 6 plastic sticks in the ornament section. I just sanded the square ends so they would go in smoothly. I checked this year they are still being sold. one dollar yields 6 sticks.

bparnell those tuned out so awesome!

I've eyed those before for the same purpose but talked myself out of it since I've never had erasers stay nice for long even if I don't use them. May have to go get some.... :run:

A little off topic but I've been eyeing some gummie bear pencil toppers as well(in the regular stationary section)....

haha, I started writing this post last week and then kinda forgot about it. In the meantime I picked up some of those erasers and wore the christmas tree and reindeer to work on Black Friday.(We have to wear Xmas aprons until New Years now) I stuck them on a pair of my plain-ish acrylic sticks. Thank-you for the inspiration! I also picked up some red and green candy cane ornaments but I have a feeling I wont be getting to shaping and polishing the ends this year. 🤣

Thanks and good for you! If you watch TV just take an emery board and work on smoothing out those blunt ends while you watch TV ad in a couple of nights you will have one to wear to work.
