View Full Version : Six month progress of a supershortie

November 26th, 2018, 02:32 PM

Iím now just over 6 months(!) since The Big Chop of 2018.

Photo progress is here (https://journeybacktolonghair.tumblr.com/post/180253246896/so-were-at-6-months-of-growing-out-now-and-while).

My hair feels soft as heck.
I have saved £383838929 on shampoo since going from superlong to supershort.
I have saved a further £27282883 by not dying my hair since cutting it.
I experienced wind and sun on my neck for the first time in 26 years. 6/10 overrated.
nO sPlIt eNDs 🤩
The shower plug hasnít clogged with 8ft of hair since 2017.
I now know never to experiment and cut my hair short ever again.

My hair has regained its former sentience and is attempting to smother my eyes at every given chance as vengeance for ever cutting it.
I look like a mushroom.
I will probably continue to look like a mushroom until around June 2019.
I miss my long hair daily and am Filled With Regret for cutting it.
There are bobby pins everywhere. I only bought a pack of twenty, but somehow, 608 have spawned.
I have a weird white patch on the back of my head now. 🤷*♀️ It was probably always there, but previously hidden by long hair.
It hasnít grown as much as I hoped it would in six months.

Things I Have Learnt Since Growing It Out:

If you are lazy and like just tying your hair back, donít be fooled. A pixie cut is not the lazy personís ďI donít even have to brush it now!Ē hairdo. Itís actually more effort than long hair.
The Inversion Method didnít work for me.
Nothing will make hair grow faster. Nothing. Stronger, maybe, healthier, maybe, but not faster.
Hairbands and pins will be your friend until collarbone length.
It is possible for a human to look like a mushroom.
If you spend a week thinking ďI want a big change, I know, a dramatic haircut!Ē STEP AWAY FROM THE HAIRDRESSERS. BUY A NEW OUTFIT. DYE IT A NEW COLOUR. DO NOT CUT IT ON IMPULSE.
Donít trim the mullet. Honestly, no one notices that lil long bit at the back. Or, more accurately, no one cares. Let it grow, friend. Embrace it.
The mullet stage doesnít actually last very long. But youíll never be quite sure if/when youíve escaped it.
Iím only 60% sure my mullet stage is over?

To the next six months. Awaaaaaaayyyyy! 🦸*♀️

Your update is hilarious :rollin: I remember your first posts here back in May, I can't believe it's already been 6 months! I myself feel like May was two months ago

Looks like your hair has grown quite a lot! Congrats!

The mullet stage doesn’t actually last very long. But you’ll never be quite sure if/when you’ve escaped it.

This is what I've been saying. And once the sides are long enough to clip back, "Shorter sides? What shorter sides?"

Congrats on your progress!

Your progress is AWESOME! Congrats!

I cut back from WL to chin years ago, and did enjoy documenting it. :)

Wow, I just read through your Tumblr - from waist to pixie no doubt was a huge shock! But it's looking really good, plus you're 6 months closer now to a length you're happy with :D

I looked at your pictures, it’s grown alot

I love your update! And thank you for documenting it. 110% agree that short is more work than long. Though washing long is more work, just the rest of the time it's easier.

If it helps, I think your mullet stage is over.

I was exactly in your place in February of this year. I’d rather give birth again than wait for my hair to grow while sitting in regret of the Chop. Time passes though, and you’ll be collar bone before you know it.
