I am not sure if my hair is type 1b or even 2a/2b. I've been used to brushing it my entire life but have recently been watching more hair videos and noticing the slight curl when my hair is wet. It's not very defined and I lose them. This is after a hair wash and conditioner. I just scrunched my hair a little.

This is airdryed without brushing it.

I had been rinsing with apple cidar vinegar as well but read about it possibly damaging hair. I soaked my hair in honey, rinsed and then conditioner with more honey. I just bought this leave in Palmers olive oil formula and I did the hair scrunching.

Honestly I'll probably just brush it because it looks kind of messy and I don't know how to feel about it. Is it possible to define the slight curl more? Or how should I care for this hair type? I noticed it does get dry, which is why I started trying leave in conditioners.

I have 2a hair. It is kinda the in between hair type. I can get it to 2c curly with scrunching, and plopping. I can also go about as straight as a 1a/b if I brush it right out of the shower and leave a heavier leave in conditioner in it. It depends on what you wanna do really. If you like the straighter look, I would not scrunch at all. I would use the "praying hands" method to add leave in conditioner to my hair to also help smooth it. I would also comb it when wet to help straighten the curls. Now if you want it to go more wavy, look up the curly girl method. I would squish to condish with a leave in conditioner, scrunch in a gel, then plop my hair in a turbie towel until either dry or dry enough you can diffuse. Then scrunch the crunch from the gel out. I promise you that will all make sense if you look up a curly girl routine.

Looks to me like a 1c/2a type, so you can make it look straight Or wavy, depending on what texture pleases you more. :)

I would call it 1b or 1c. There are no defined waves. 2a hair is noticeably wavy.

There are some waves in the middle and 1c hair has a body wave and one or two loose S waves, mostly at the temples or nape... The second pic especially shows that it might be 2a in disguise, and the waves can be enxouraged with proper hair care routine.

I think I would put 1c/2a at the very max. due to your last picture, but I'd be more comfortable with 1b or 1c if I go on your other pictures (no way is that even near 2 wavy).

If the first 2 pics are after a little scrunching (i.e. not quite a proper hairtyping pic), then *right now* your hair is probably mostly 1b on top and 1c/2a underneath. However, the 2nd pic does show some very clear waves going on underneath, so like Stray_mind said, your hair undoubtedly has the potential for being wavy once it's treated as wavy - mainly, moisture moisture moisture! If you do change your routine accordingly, you might notice a difference within even just a few months, and if you do a proper hairtyping pic in a year it will likely turn out to be definitively in the 2s :)

The third pic shows that your hair will take being styled wavy, so in time (again, with a tweaked routine) you might find it styles wavier and wavier.

I'm no expert on routines but I discovered clandestine waves in my hair simply from double-conditioning; I CWC and the other double-conditioning option is WCC. Maybe post some details about your current routine and other wavies will be able to post some tips for where to start making some wave-friendly tweaks :)

It's hard to tell your hair type since I don't think any of these are proper hair typing pictures. But I'd go with majority 1b with some areas being 1c. You have no real waves other than at your nape based on the second picture.

To get a hair typing picture, you need to shampoo, condition if you want, and then let it air dry without touching it. No scrunching or other products.

1c maybe. Have you tried co-washing? it made my hair curlier, anything that moisturises my hair helps the wave pattern to be more defined. Use a wide tooth comb when wet and avoid brushing - as you already know it's quite easy to 'brush out' waves when they are'nt very strong to begin with.

If that's what you get when scrunching, I'd put you at a 1b or 1c naturally, without scrunching. As others have said though your scrunched hair is about 1c/2a. Nice color!

These aren't proper hairtyping pictures? :hmm:

First one has been scrunched. Not sure about the second. Third has been scrunched, and has a leave-in on it.

Oh no, then these don't count! :( Not even the last one!

I'll wait on new pictures!
