Has anyone tried this hair tonic? It's 56% witch hazel, and 44% bay rum. Doesn't seem like it would be that effective for growing hair past the knees.

Very interesting article.

Probably not effective for growing hair, but the massaging during application might help a bit. If I could buy some of this tonic I would, just for the fun of being able to say that i use it :D

Bay rum is a traditional men's aftershave. Witch hazel is good for various skin ailments. So I decided to try both Thayer's Witch Hazel & Captain's Choice Aftershaves. Yes, I've been using them on my hair, in combination with other things. And yes, my hair is growing.

But I don't like the bay rum scent as well as Captain's Choice 45th Parallel, which is cherry-scented (& contains no bay rum, which seems to be in both the Bay Rum & Cat-O'-9-Tails aftershaves by Captain's Choice.)

I particularly like mixing them in with the egg-&-oil hair masks to go under plastic wrap. I've put so many ingredients in my hair masks, it's hard to tell what's working.

But my hair's growing, & I really like it when it smells like cherries instead of raw eggs, so I'm happy.
