Today I attended the funeral of a dear friend. Rather than flowing freely, as I often do, I contained my hair respectfully in my favorite Dutch braid.

Came out particularly well.

RIP John.

My condolences. Beautiful hairstyle. I'd love to be able to braid myself like that, but unfortunately I don't even manage a basic braid (English I suppose it is?).

My deepest sympathies, CJK.

I wish I could do a braid like that! John would be proud!

He actually died over the summer. His widow chose to have a party, a celebration of his life, rather than a traditional solemn funeral.

And being Texas, lots of barbecue.

It was very different than any I've attended previously. And very nice.

My condolences to her and you.

So thoughtful of you to keep it in great braid.

Very thoughtful of his widow to have a party for his life well lived!

I'm so sorry for your loss. The braid looks neat and elegant, really appropiate for something like this :blossom:

I’m sorry to hear about your loss, and that of his widow.

I agree that the hairstyle was just perfect for the circumstances.

Losing a friend is always painful. Sympathy to you.

A braid is a good choice for a barbecue (what with fire and sauce and finger food), and yours looks very contained, good move! :)

I'm sorry for your loss. But I like the braid! It doesn't look bulky and chunky like Dutch braids often can (why I don't do them... on me it looks like a weird ridge down the back of my head)... really cool.

Sorry for your loss.
But that one superb braid. I loss my best friend back in 2012, and she told me that the longest her hair ever grew to was thigh length in high school. I was in total shock! When we first met her hair was short like shoulder length, and then as we spoke on the phone a lot outside of college her hair grew a lot longer like to CL! Because, one day as we were on the phone she told me that her hair was to her butt...lol. Or, that she was sitting on it. I was like, "Wow!" But when I saw her in person a few years before she passed away she chopped her hair all of the up to MBL!. I was like, "Why did she do that?" and she is a longhairlover.
