Hey all!!

Have any of you heard of the Long Hair Clinic? It's on London's Bond Street. The man that runs it is named Neil and he uses the "Dr George Michael" method of haircare, products, etc. All of the reviews are BLINDING. I was just wondering if any of you had heard of it or used him in the past? I think he does a S&D for long hair in the salon rather than just chopping inches off ends, etc. I live in London so looking to get some actual experiences to see if I need to switch my salon (and spend much more money but maybe it'll be worth it)!

This is his site: http://longhairinlondon.com/

There's been mention of it on here; it might be in a George Michael thread? I'd look it up but don't have the energy right now. I do recall the person who went was not entirely delighted with the experience, but I don't remember quite why.

I think you pay a *lot* for something you can easily do yourself. S&D is not hard. And trimming is not hard either, with Feye's self-trimming method. That is one of the methods used here. I'll link it below:

I think since you are relatively new here, you might not have heard of the method. :flower:

A lot of people here do things themselves, and no longer go to salons, not even "long hair" salons.

There's a few threads around concerning the George Michael salons. If you do an "advanced" search on "george michael" and choose "titles only", you'll find a lot of hits!

Yeah just S&D is a chore hahaha, so if I could get someone else to do it for me I'd love that. I haven't really looked into all the methods etc yet because I've got a lot of bleach damage!

To be honest, I'm kind of glad to hear that it's not all its cracked up to be because I don't want to change the products I use yet haha

I've been to a GM salon here in the States and it was an experience, but lapushka is right, it's expensive and you can do it yourself without much trouble. I would go back, it was fun and they did a good job and were very respectful of my desire to retain length. They also didn't push their products on me. BUT I went because I was paranoid that my self trims were crooked, and when I mentioned this to the girl cutting my hair she said it looked perfectly straight. Anyway, it's a luxury and not a necessary one. I won't scare you away, but you don't *need* it.

If you do go, for sure post your experience though! They might be quite different from the one I went to. But if you're interested I can dig up my post about it.

The key to a good S&D "session" is not to do it all-at-once. Just take your scissors and do about 1/4 of the hair or so this week, the rest another week, and so on. If you are prone to splits, because on first glance it might not even be necessary. If you have more than half your hair "in trouble", though, consider a regular trim instead.

There was some discussion about this salon recently, I’ve attached the thread
https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=128754&page=2

Some more threads came up when I searched “Neil Ward” but I haven’t had a chance to look at them yet.

ETA: This thread has some reviews of the London salon.

Yes I seem to remember the discussion. Wasn't it someone whose hair was cut off too short and who was told that she could not reach length with her fine or thin hair? That is alarming in my book and should not happen! :( We have the fine/thin hair thread on here with *plenty* of people who grew to a nice and long length.
