This is one of my faves and it feels so elegant when I wear it. ThrowNormanAway created it, but mods say it has almost nothing in common with a pha bun. So it needs a new name. She agreed to let me post this thread.

Come on ladies...lets really give this a try. We need more suggestions for a name. This elegant bun deserves a great name. Here with a 4 prong fork.

OP, you posted this in the newbie section. Maybe get a mod to put it on the mane forum and you might get more hits on your thread. :flower:
As for a name, I wouldn't know. :)

Ohhhhh so pretty. I wouldn’t know a name for it either, but I cannot wait for my hair to be long enough to try it. I have never had long hair, but I believe if I stay in this community long enough, (years 🙄) I will get there!

So lovely. Looking forward to trying t and some of the others on that playlist. Thank-you for the link, I added the playlist to my library for future perusal.
I can't help but think it looks kinda yin yang-y.

It's very almost Celtic-knot looking, maybe? I don't have the length for it (yet!) but it looks pretty easy, so I can't wait to try it!

I have thought about this far too long. need to get back to real life. Other words for elegant are : stylish, sleek, smart, chic, posh. I have tried different languages for elegant and for thumb. I finally come back to a simple CHIC Bun. It is indeed chic. What do you think?

Well if no one else is willing to give this bun a name I am going to call it the POSH bun because the definition of posh is:smart stylish fancy high-class fashionable chic luxurious luxury deluxe exclusive opulent lavish grand showy upscale upmarket classy swanky snazzy plush ritzy flash la-di-da fancy-dancy fancy-schmancy swank.
This is the way it makes me feel ad it is very far removed from the popular granny bun.

Hi bparnell75, I think the reason this hasn't had much traffic is because it's in the 'new, start here' section instead of on the main discussion forum :) if you wanted, you could report the first post and ask the mods to move it. To be honest, because of the way I navigate the site, I often forget this section is here  and I think it might be a similar case for others, too.
Though the name you have chosen suits the bun! It does look very elegant!

Thanks Musical spoons. I have never seen anyone else post this bun but the creator and myself. So we may leave it as the posh bun.

This beautiful and elegant bun has finally been named.

As you can see It was created by ThrowNormanAWay. I have been wearing it for about two years now, but never saw any others post it. So since it did not have its own distinctive name I thought it should.
We have agreed on it now and it will be added to the official list. It is the POSH Bun because the definition of posh includes smart (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/chrome-extension://mgijmajocgfcbeboacabfgobmjgjcoja/browser_action.html#) stylish (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/chrome-extension://mgijmajocgfcbeboacabfgobmjgjcoja/browser_action.html#) fancy (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/chrome-extension://mgijmajocgfcbeboacabfgobmjgjcoja/browser_action.html#) high-class (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/chrome-extension://mgijmajocgfcbeboacabfgobmjgjcoja/browser_action.html#) fashionable (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/chrome-extension://mgijmajocgfcbeboacabfgobmjgjcoja/browser_action.html#) chic (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/chrome-extension://mgijmajocgfcbeboacabfgobmjgjcoja/browser_action.html#) luxurious (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/chrome-extension://mgijmajocgfcbeboacabfgobmjgjcoja/browser_action.html#) luxury (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/chrome-extension://mgijmajocgfcbeboacabfgobmjgjcoja/browser_action.html#) deluxe (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/chrome-extension://mgijmajocgfcbeboacabfgobmjgjcoja/browser_action.html#) exclusive (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/chrome-extension://mgijmajocgfcbeboacabfgobmjgjcoja/browser_action.html#) -opulent (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/chrome-extension://mgijmajocgfcbeboacabfgobmjgjcoja/browser_action.html#) lavish (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/chrome-extension://mgijmajocgfcbeboacabfgobmjgjcoja/browser_action.html#) grand (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/chrome-extension://mgijmajocgfcbeboacabfgobmjgjcoja/browser_action.html#) showy (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/chrome-extension://mgijmajocgfcbeboacabfgobmjgjcoja/browser_action.html#) upscale (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/chrome-extension://mgijmajocgfcbeboacabfgobmjgjcoja/browser_action.html#) swanky (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/chrome-extension://mgijmajocgfcbeboacabfgobmjgjcoja/browser_action.html#) snazzy (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/chrome-extension://mgijmajocgfcbeboacabfgobmjgjcoja/browser_action.html#) plush (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/chrome-extension://mgijmajocgfcbeboacabfgobmjgjcoja/browser_action.html#) ritzy (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/chrome-extension://mgijmajocgfcbeboacabfgobmjgjcoja/browser_action.html#) flash (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/chrome-extension://mgijmajocgfcbeboacabfgobmjgjcoja/browser_action.html#) la-di-da (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/chrome-extension://mgijmajocgfcbeboacabfgobmjgjcoja/browser_action.html#)fancy-dancy (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/chrome-extension://mgijmajocgfcbeboacabfgobmjgjcoja/browser_action.html#) fancy-schmancy (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/chrome-extension://mgijmajocgfcbeboacabfgobmjgjcoja/browser_action.html#) swank (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/chrome-extension://mgijmajocgfcbeboacabfgobmjgjcoja/browser_action.html#)
I also think it has a hint of retro early 1900's

I think I did something incorrectly but here's my attempt:
https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=33553&d=1538824115
It's rather tight even with just a two prong fork so I'm going to have to fiddle with it a bit.
Fork is a MapleBurl (https://www.etsy.com/listing/608807818/the-hair-comb-319-is-made-of-russian?show_sold_out_detail=1).

Wait... I'm confused, isn't that the same as the L-finity bun? ...I remember learned this bun long ago, it's one of the few I know lol.

You made me curious so I went and compared the tutorial in the OP to one of the L infinity bun, and the only difference I can spot is that this posh bun twist the first loop over the thumb so that the length ends up under the loop, after that it seems to be the same thing. I find it interesting that the end result looks quite different despite the bun being almost the same.
...not sure how much sense I make here..

Yes, I think I know what you mean! I didn't notice that it wrapped the other direction (?) than the L-finity.

well it turned out like this. due to not having a few sticks of a fork going through it, the left loop looks less elegant and twirly than with hair fork, but it felt very nice and stable on the head :)

How would one pull this off with a stick instead of a fork?

I tried it with a stick (picture on the previous page), but I guess it would definitely be better and have more "flair" and elegance of the twist with a fork

Somehow I didn't see notification for this comment! Thank you so much!! :heartbeat
I have been going back and forth between LWB and Nautilus the past few weeks, to quickly put hair up every day and forget about it, but this reminded me now to do this wonderful bun again!! :cloud9:
