Rapunzel Braid

Honestly... I'm wondering how in the world in that movie those kids were able to put all of her into a braid that didn't hit the ground. 😂😐 I literally want there secret. Like that's so much how do you get it into such a short braid (for Rapunzel) if anyone has the secrets. Please share. If you think its just unrealistic movie expectation. Then 😂 I cry

I think I saw a video where gossamer braided her floor length hair into something that was just below shoulder - basically she just crocheted her hair using her arm

Yes, crocheting chains in your hair drastically eats the length. Just use a couple of fingers as the hook.

That is super cool, and it would look a lot like Rapunzel's braid does with the big thick loops.

I have often wondered that myself! I think it's a little bit of reality with a bit more movie magic. And I think it must have weighed a ton! When you first look at it, it looks like a 3 strand braid with several micro braids woven in but there's no way it would be that short. Maybe if it was a folded braid? A crochet braid would definitely work but they showed the little girls making a 3 strand braid so :shrug: Gossamer's crochet braid is the best thing I've found for eating up the length and it is super quick and easy to do. I agree with her that, for me, it's not a long term braid with my hair texture as it tends to tangle when rubbing against my neck and back. I did try a french crochet version that turned out well. It was quick to do and distributed the weight quite well. It's the same principal as the crochet braid Gossamer did, I just added sections of hair to the section being pulled through the loop (if that makes sense). My ends are fairytailing so if I want to leave it in the braids I just wrap the ends around and put a clear elastic around them. I'd be interested to know what is the minimum length needed for a crochet braid.

What if they crochet braided the English braid? That would chew up a lot of length; and it’s not like Rapunzel can’t spare the length. It would also allow lots of cross threads to poke flowers into.

Absolutely gorgeous. Would love a tutorial so I could learn how to add the hair sections AND how to finish it off. I'm gonna try it tonight anyhow. Wish me luck. Will post a picture tomorrow
