Cute hairstyles and hair toys for short hair?

I want to try to enjoy my short hair for now. It is a struggle but I want to feel cute. I enjoy making tight curls with pipe cleaners but that is really it. Does anyone have any ideas when it comes to cute hairstyles for short hair? and by short I mean shorter than shoulder length hair. Any hair accessories, etc. It's going to take forever for my hair to grow :wail:
I am always looking in the mirror everyday hoping that it magically grew 30 inches already. It is growing but very slowly... It feels slow. When I look back at old pictures I am surprised how much my hair grew but for some reason even though it is evident my hair is growing. I feel like I'm looking at the same thing. Someone help me out and give me ideas.

I have not a clue about styles, but you can get a huge variety of small and tiny claw clips in all sorts of colours and designs (some really cute!) - cheaply too, on Amazon and eBay.

Half-ups work really well with shorter hair. I did a lot of headband/bang braids into ponytails right after getting my haircut to above shoulder (collarbone in the front, upper neck in the back, then trimmed it to straight shoulder a few months later). Double braids and buns were really good options too. Stacked buns are super cute and kind of unique. Pull through braids are awesome on short hair, as are twists/French twists/peacock twists etc. If you can ponytail it at the nape it you can probably do a Gibson tuck with it. Accent braids are good with all the styles. Heartless curls/waves are also good options! I’m finally out of shoulder and heading towards APL but all of the above are ways I’ve styled my own short hair.

eta: just realizing our hair textures are totally different but I still think a lot of these could work just as well or better in more textured hair than mine. Mine is slippery and spits styles out half the time.

I just got some super cute butterfly clips from claires! They work just right even with my thick hair that doesn't want to go up in anything but a scrunchie :lol:

They're much bigger than they look and hold a peacock twist nicely with my APL hair :)

Can you braid? A double Dutch braid takes very little length, and the headband contains the flyaways. I wore this, often, at a length comparable to what you describe.

Heh, I was first here to reply and wrote this super-detailed response on different hairstyles for different short lengths (from buzzed hair to lob) but my computer froze and I just didn't felt like writing the same thing all over again. Oh well. For longer short hair you can try Milabu on youtube. I see she's already mentioned. I only wanted to say that I do *more* hairstyles on short hair than I ever was able to do on long hair, something to think about. Even with ultra short/buzzed (but not zero guard buzzcut, of course! lol) hair you can get at least two hairstyles, which is shocking taking into account how short that is! After they grown out slightly I could get 3 hairstyles. Bob and lob have endless possibilities. For very short try male hairstyling (like, you can spike your hair, wear a wet look, etc) , once they grow out a bit you can put decorative bobby pins in and at some point you're able to comb them back. On short bob you can put it up with pins. On bob/lob at some point you can do anything - short/small hairsticks, braids with decorative ties, comb it back, full and fluffy, wet look, straight, wavy, curly, anything...

On bob/lob my go to was half-up cinnabun on top of my head with small horn hairstick or combed back hair with regular braid or french braid.

For me at shoulder length and shorter was a stage for braided half ups. I always got inspired by Viking hair styles, lol.

Tiny twin boxer braids or dutch braids? It helps if you wet your hair first to get it to cooperate.
