View Full Version : I'm an idiot with impulse control issues... [Henna/Bleach/Help???]

So, impulse control issues and boredom saw me bleaching over my black henna (bad idea, I know) and my hair was a lovely combination of blonde and green before I went over it in auburn box dye. It looks passable if you don't look too closely, but it's still darker than I'd like (I want strabwerry blonde so I can regrow my hair virgin without too much fuss as it's somewhere between that and brown/auburn). The ends are also still slightly tinted green and there's a bit where I missed the auburn/blonde. What would you guys recommend to lighten/even things out a bit? If I do lighten, I'm avoiding bleach and using EVOO and aloe vera gel so my hair doesn't end up *completely* fried.

I think you have too much going on with various colors in your hair right now. So I'd shell out the cash for a professional with color correction experience at this point. Or, just leave it alone and cut it off as it grows out.

I don't think it looks bad! Maybe just use a shampoo and conditioner for red colored hair (has lots of red tones that deposit and neutralize the green.)

The only thing I would do is olive oil soaks and vitamin c treatments to try and lift as much indigo as possible. Color oops would pull out the box dye but would leave you with blonde and green again. I'm afraid that unless you can fade the indigo, you are stuck with either green or dark hair unless you cut the green out.

I think it looks pretty lol. If you baby your hair and keep it moisturized it will look great!

I am not for messing with your hair on your own. Bleach won't work (honey is out too because that contains peroxide aka bleach), and you'd have to bleach it again to get the black out and get it lighter, which you can't do because: green hair. Even when you have this professionally done, they will not know what to do with the green either. So the best thing is to grow it out.
Maybe you could try color oops or something of the like?

Unfortunately, that's way out of my budget at the moment but the thought crossed my mind!

Thank you! :') It looks worse IRL, admittedly my roots are ginger but it's not as bad as it was (green, blonde and ginger all over!). I'll try the neutralising idea, though!

I'm really loving EVOO at the moment for my hair (it makes it so soft!), so I'm using that anyway at the moment. How would I get the Vitamin C? I've heard about it but never looked into it before!

Haha, thank you! I plan on babying my hair as much as possible!

I must admit, I'm all for avoiding bleach right now! I never knew that about honey, admittedly - that's interesting but it certainly makes sense. I've never used it in my hair but I've tried it on my face because I heard it helps fade scars/dark spots. I might try colour oops, do you know what I could expect?
Thank you all for the help! It's ironic, because I actually had my hair green intentionally when I was a teenager. :D

My vote is deep moisture treatments (KPak Reconstructor by Joico is a good one) and maybe red henna to neutralize the green.

Vit c treatments are easy. Get a bottle of vitamin c tablets and some head and shoulders shampoo. Crush about 8 tablets and mix with 1/2 cup shampoo. Apply to damp hair, lather well, cover and let sit for a hour. Rinse well, shampoo again to remove any residue and deep condition.
It might be a bit drying but I've done multiple treatments daily for a week and never had damage.

Vitamin C you can get at any druggist/chemist/apothecary. I use crushed 1000mg Vitamin C tablets when I'm force-fading semi-permanent hair dye; powder Vitamin C is also available (your countertops will thank you :) ).
Maybe a diluted mix of semi-permanent red dye and conditoiner can help your green problem (I recently used pink to neutralize light green in my hair--mine came out blonde/silver, but YMMV).
Maybe hot oil treatments (coconut oil and/or EVOO is good for this) or a mix of two parts lemon juice and one part conditioner (leave on for up to one hour--wash/clarify and don't forget to condition afterwards!) can help gradually fade your color.

OP, I found this thread: Successfully Removed Indigo From Hair! (https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=77298) You can use the "Search" feature here and see what else you come up with.
Another thought I had was Lush's "I Love Juicy" shampoo...don't forget the deep conditioner! Seeing as some of the suggestions involve citric acid (Vitamin C, lemon juice), it might be cheaper to get the "I Love Juicy" shampoo...just a thought.
You might also try Fairy Liquid mixed with Vitamin C and/or baking soda--very drying, though.
Good luck!
