This is a gorgeous, simple updo. I just had to share.

Looks nice, but i stopped using hair ties so putting it into so many ponies would scare me hahaha.

That's a fair point. :flower:

Very pretty. I'm currently trying to figure out these instructions...hmmm.

I think with my length, and my hair isn't even that long according to LHC standards, but that would end up one big tangle.

It's cute though, and might be lovely for those of us with shorter hair! :D

I wish I could tolerate hair resting against the nape of my neck!

Yes, I'm not much for lower updos either. I have to have my bun almost at my crown (peeking through up top).

Yeah, they're not the clearest instructions... But I think we LHC'ers are smart enough to figure them out! Please share if you succeed! :flower:

Yeah, the instructions are not clear at all. I think it's a pull through braid (faux braid) just oriented horizontally instead of vertically? It is pretty. :)

Edit: I think it's similar to this: https://youtu.be/-W0yYvZX8c8 (I'd skip the teasing at the beginning though shudder:)

The end result is almost identical, though the original post started out with a bunch of banded sections, while in the video you posted she added bands as she went along.

I've got to experiment and see if I can replicate either version... Like you said, without the teasing! :scared:

Oooh that's real nice. Surely there's be a way to do it without elastics... Wish I had enough length to experiment gah! Will be keepin' eyes on this thread :P

Looking at it, it seems to be part pull-through braid, part basket weave using ponytails as the base. Join the ponytails into pairs and weave the tails around the new ponytails. Doable, albeit with very vague instructions and videos; and pretty; but I don’t think it would hold up to a day of work fo most of us without hairspray or gel to hold everything in.

So, I had some time to play with my hair today and decided to try this style out. I used the method in the video I posted earlier in the thread since I couldn't work out the written instructions in the original post. :p Here is the result:

I think mine came out looking better on one side than the other, so if I leave the house today I will stick a flower on the funky side to make it look better and hide that elastic that's showing. :rolling: I've got kind of mixed feelings about this updo. The pros: it feels pretty solid, like this isn't gonna fall down, so if you have slippery hair this could be good for you (I used spin pins to pin the tail up underneath). It's comfortable- nothing's pulling weird or anything like that. And, it's kinda cute I suppose. The cons: All those ponytail holders! It was a bit of a pain to do the little ponytails. I had to be really careful not to get hair from other sections caught up as I was ponytailing one section... I haven't tried to take it down yet, but I think it's one I'll have to be really careful with on the take down to not rip out hair or cause damage. All said, I like it okay but I think I can get a similar looking bun/updo a lot easier with a couple of fluffed english braids. But again, if you have slippery hair and fluffing regular braids doesn't work for you- this might be a good alternative.

Wow, that looks gorgeous, lauren_alia! Great job! :flower: Mine isn't long enough to do this updo, yet.

Thank you! :D
As an update, it did stay comfortably all day and didn't move. And, it wasn't too much of a hassle to take down. :o
