View Full Version : June 2018: Goddess Bun

ATTENTION VLOGERS: This one needs a video tutorial!

Like the Cameo Bun, but with two twisted sections from front added around a main bun.

This was one of the mystery buns from old style lists I came across when putting together the Style Thesaurus. Here is the one old example I found (http://photobucket.com/gallery/user/thevictorious6/media/bWVkaWFJZDoxMjA4MDMyNDM=/?ref=).

Here is my attempt
https://farm1.staticflickr.com/978/41256382554_c8be43e01d.jpg
I didn't secure the central bun well enough, and you can see it is falling out the center here.

Have fun!

I love the name and I love the way it looks. The two twists will give me a perfect chance for some softness around the face. This bun will be my favourite, I know!

Ok so I thought I'd try to do a video tutorial on it - this is my second attempt so not too bad! Just make sure you properly twist the sides and just do a cinnabun centre. At least that's what it looks like to me :) First ever youtube video too!

Do excuse the bright pink bra straps! lol. I should have pushed it properly in at the end, but oh well - you get the gist :D Could probably try hiding the clips next time too.

Did it!
The first attempt it was sagging out, too little amish pins....

Second attempt, more amish pins and a little tighter wrapped

Nice one Eresh - I think it's the kind of bun that does look quite big and stick out. I quite like the look though and it feels comfortable enough.

Here's mine. Wishing I had some different pins or claw clips or something. Bobby pins really aren't my preference. Oh well. It looks cute.

Robi, Amaryllis and Littlestarface gorgeous gorgeous buns, I tried it too twice and the twists do unravel a bit so I had to pin more than usual but hey I think it is an awesome bun for work too because it holds pretty well and it looks very nice.

First attempt

Thank you, Ligeia!
Yours is STUNNING, as always. :)

I wore mine all day and it did sag a little, but not a lot. We were going out this evening and I said, wait, I need to redo my hair. My son (10) sighed and said, "Actually, it kind of looks okay."
He has opinions about my hair so this is about as close to a compliment as it gets.
So I added another pin or two and we went.

I wore this bun all day and evening yesterday and it stayed put very well.
Though with taking it down there were a few tangles.

I got tangles too I dont like this bun, the thinner side hairs that I wrapped around the bun got stuck around the base of hair and was hard to unravel out.

Fermented Rice Water washed hair is Goddess fail :o

so, perhaps a cinnabon and two accent braids https://i.imgur.com/JoXeQh8.jpg

and that was immediately slipping away

ok then, a pony wrapped in two accent braids. I dub her Goddess Pony

I tried it this morning and it looks more like a Frame bun than a Goddess bun. I should have crossed the criss crossy bits higher up! I will try this again tomorrow. I still like it like this, though :)

I'm trying to think if I could also twist the side parts first, and then add them to the ponytail *before* making the bun. I think I"d have trouble getting them wrapped around the main bun/keeping them looking nice.

You probably could if you make rope twists first and secure the ends with elastics.

I used spin pins to secure the center bun and a couple bobby pins to secure the twisty bits. I have worn it a couple days that way and it hold all day for me. Occasionally I have to redo the twists but thatís it.

I just secured the centre bun as if it were a cinnamon bun on its own and then pinned the twists(in my case rope braids) around it after it was fully secured.
